Re: Two Dark Terrors in Stereo?

He could still run the 2nd amp the way he wanted if he used the wallplug version of the Hum-X I showed above :) I have no idea how that thing works, so I am hesitant to endorse it... I was too lazy to look it all up. I haven't used it myself as it only comes with a US plug version, but I have used ...

Re: Too many alternate tunings? Check it out

The big console thing on the front of the guitars equipped with it looks pretty goofy! ;) On a practical note, most people I know who regularly use alt tunings like to have different guitars with different string gauges picked to suit the various tunings - I just don't see how 59 different tunings o...

Re: tech 21 oxford

Don't be dissuaded by comments made by those who haven't used this particular gear or only in one way like direct. You owe it to yourself to try things out rather than relying on some self-acclaimed "expert's" biased opinions. Some guys live on the internet and comment on everything whether they've...

Re: Bass Terror in ad200-style head enclosure or rack mount?

Yeah, I'd definitely leave a good few rack spaces above it or add a fan at the back of the rack if I were to do this personally.

Road Worn SG Guitar

So, taking a 200 quid Epiphone G400, dropping a pickup and bridge in it then attacking it with an orbital sander suddenly doubles its value....? Nice try...

Re: Cheap v expensive guitars - your real world experiences!

If you're going to play the 'you get what you pay for' card, at least try to qualify it rather than just putting it out there as if it's gospel truth! ;) Perhaps it was true 10 years ago, but I don't think you can really say price is commensurate with value in the guitar market these days, which is ...

Re: Bass Terror in ad200-style head enclosure or rack mount?

Hadn't thought of that Teddy, but that may well work. Only thing to work out there is a way to strap it down so it isn't bouncing off the walls of the rack during load-ins and load-outs. What I did with my previous bass head was unscrew the feet and bolt the chassis to a rack shelf through the exis...

Re: Arctic Monkeys Tone

You should have no problems getting close to that general guitar sound from their first record with the TT with not too much fiddling, it has a similar basic tone to the AD30 and should get you in the right ballpark very easily - if you aren't pleased with the TT I doubt a Vox will do you any better...

Re: Bass Terror in ad200-style head enclosure or rack mount?

I seem to remember the cooling fan being mounted on the side as well... I was thinking more attaching the chassis to a rack shelf with space on either side - a Bass Terror isn't wide enough to fill a standard rack without space anyway! I've done this with a couple of amp heads that weren't rack-spe...

Re: Two Dark Terrors in Stereo?

^^^^ safest bet, however, you'd be stuck running effects in front of the amp... I assume the effects loop in the DkT is BEHIND the pre-amp in the chain, so this would, in effect, change your signal chain and alter the sound meaninfully. you maybe able to fiddle and adjust to get back where you want...

Re: Cheap v expensive guitars - your real world experiences!

I was waiting for someone to utter the words 'life is short' Greg - and you're right, that is an important consideration, for sure! At the end of the day, if you really want a particular guitar, you can afford it and feel that it's 'the one' for you, relative value doesn't matter and you can't take ...

Re: Cheap v expensive guitars - your real world experiences!

My experience has been that I like the "cheap" expensive guitars! Meaning faded Gibsons, Highway One Fenders, etc. I've found a lot of just plain cheaper guitars that I've bought always had something that needed upgrading, pickups, tuners, etc. By the time I've spent money doing that, I usual...

Cheap v expensive guitars - your real world experiences!

I thought I'd ask how everyone on here feels about the practical differences between budget guitars and expensive ones they've owned, based on real life experience rather than internet hearsay and country of origin prejudice. I'd love to hear from the people of the Orange forum as I respect your opi...

Re: make money money

There is good money to be made in CDs, especially if you're planning to gig regularly. It's worth getting no less than 1000 replicated with proper artwork etc, as that is the level at which prices start to get really reasonable per unit. You can get 1000 CDs with 4 page booklets, overwrapped and del...

Look at the ass on that!! ;) Only suggestion - perhaps you should paint the inside of the baffle board black for extra sexiness for back door peepers? ;)

Seriously though, good job on it all.
