Re: TH30 or AD30HTC

I'm going to go against the crowd here and recommend the TH30, I've had a chance to play a friends several times and I am totally impressed with the TH30, especially for the money. The clean channel is worth the price of the amp alone but the dirty channel is a gigging musicians dream, if your band ...

Re: Custom shop: Retro 50 vs AD50

Love my Retro 50, it has a wonderful feel and tone that I have yet to find in any other amp. To my ears it is somewhere between the Fender camp and the Marshall camp, it sounds great through the Orange 212 cab, and I use it in places from small pubs (with a Rat OD pedal) up to rooms at the Hyatt wit...

The New Orange DIVO system

Does anyone know what the new DIVO system would cost as an add on for an older amp? I'd love to put one in my AD200 and my Rockerverb 50.

Re: Changing pickups in PRS Custom 24. Should I?

Before you change the pickups lower the bridge pickup to somewhere between 3/16 and 1/4 inch from the strings, the improvement in tone is amazing. Now lower the neck pickup so it is barely above the pickup ring. I'm a PRS fan and have several but struggled with the HFS especially and I asked my tech...

Re: Klon Demo clips!

You did a great job on the pedal!! I own a original Klon (bought it before the prices got ridiculous ) and your pedal pretty much nails the tone. I'd like to hear a clip with the pedal (without delay) on the following settings: gain - 9:00 , treble - 11:00, Volume - 12:00 This is where a lot of peop...

Re: Damn that AD50 is hot

I have a Retro 50 which is very similar to the AD50 only a little darker sounding and your correct, the tubes you put in the amp make a big difference in the tone & response. I find that the simpler the circuit is the more it responds to different brands and types of tubes. The Retro & AD are very s...

Thanks Markazzbasist! Billy I can't believe your not a tube gourmet! I figured you would have some exotic tube from a Russian nuclear missile that was smuggled into the country buy trained dolphins. My whole image of you is shattered. LOL

Re: Just ordered a Marshall Class 5

I bought a black one today and I have to admit that the little amp is impressive! It's pure Marshall tone in a easy to carry package. I put a Visual Sound Route 66 in front of mine and the compressor gives you more headroom and the OD gets the distortion rocking. Put a e609 mic in front of the amp a...

bclaire (or anyone else)- need a opinion AD200 retube

I'm going to retube my AD200 Orange bass amp and after looking at the available tubes was considering the Electro Harmonix 6550 tubes, I want a tube with high headroom and low noise, think this will get the job done? Also which preamp tubes are the cleanest and clearest for a bass amp?

Re: E609 vs SM57

I've used both and prefer the e609, it just has a nice freq. response that works well with my Orange Retro 50 and Rockerverb 50. I also use a e609 to mic the bass cab (Orange 115 cab) and it works very well, at first I had my doubts since alot of bass players use direct boxes but I decided to experi...

Hey Tango!

Long time no see! Are you still playing the Alpine white Les Paul Custom? Love that guitar because it inspired me to get my ebony Les Paul Custom and I never get tired to the way that guitar just sings!
