Re: Loss of power (volume) in my AD-30 Combo

just took the back off my amp to have a look at the valves and it seems the connection on the far pre amp valve is quite loose, like as i put the valve in the connection, the connection pushes into the amp! so its quite difficult to get the valve to in properly. cant really tell if the amp works be...

Re: Orangeamps.com

I guess we had better get used to some new artists picking out some fancy new tube amps too. I was watching the Disney channel the other night (hey, I have to, I'm a Dad...) with my little girl and I got a chuckle as one of their artists videos was on and the backing guys (high school aged kids) ha...

Jondog wrote::lol: I was reading that fast and saw the big opening in the back off the amp. I thought you wrote ipad and wanted to fit it in the opening which looks the shape of one. A slower re-read was better understood. On on a break from work so I'm rushing.
We'll have to wait for the OPC for that.

Re: Gut shots of vox ac4tv with questions

Thanks for that, i thought an lpad went between amp out and the speaker like youd told me you can make a small box and plug inbetween amp and cab as such. so can i use the lpad as the way they have done there circuit in replacement of there attenuater. would it be better/more benificial to run the ...

Re: Gut shots of vox ac4tv with questions

The L-pad that you get should come with wiring instructions. If not, then find some for it. You'll simply be replacing the Vox attenuator with the L-pad, if that's how you want to handle it. If the L-pad mounts right into the Attenuator location, then no chassi mods are required, which is a plus. I'...

Re: Battle of the Bands - UK

...Do you think we would benefit by taking another look at the mastering? It does sound better on a cd, through a hi-fi, than streamed from soundcloud to be honest. Again, sorry for the hijack - I'm in 'learning mode' at the moment, and there have been some really interesting threads cropping up! :...

Re: Battle of the Bands - UK

Hi guys - sorry to butt-in on your thread My band and I recently recorded a 3 track e.p. with a friend (and musician) at a small studio that he runs. The tracings of our tunes on soundcloud are pretty maxed out nearly all the time, but I don't recall this being the case when we recorded the tracks....

Re: Orangeamps.com

...Lastly I have never seen a Madonna concert so I dont really know if she plays guitar. If you'll pay a bit more attention, you'll notice that it is actually Monte Pittman who is the endorser of Orange amps. He got instant cred as he was selected by Madonna to be on her tour. Here's a clip (a bad ...

Re: Changing speaker impedances? Possible?

How much change in resistance can the transformers handle? I thought going from 16 ohms to 8 ohms would push the limits, while going from 16 ohms to 4 ohms was a disaster waiting to happen. I guess that's up to the amp mfr to determine. It looks like they've got a 12w tranny connected to a 5w tube,...

Re: Battle of the Bands - UK

All of that is liquid pidgeon excrement except the Fury who are ok at best (they sound like they desperately want to be Priestess). IMNSHO. yeah, they are trying real hard to have a cool, 70's hard rock sound. Sort of like "The Darkness" did. They aren't half bad really, just sound a bit forc...

Re: Battle of the Bands - UK

Bill, I noticed the same thing when I looked at the soundcloud tracings. A constant loud volume causes ear fatigue and makes the music unlistenable for another reason (the first being that most of these songs were derivative trip). There are some would argue that compression is over used by masteri...

Re: Battle of the Bands - UK

OK, I did listen to the tracks as best as I could stand to. Most of it was utter crap, trite "boy band", wannabe pop. Pardon me while I sling the vomit from my DM onto their shirts... The three that I found somewhat listenable and certainly with the most promise of the lot were: Kinnie The Exp...

Re: Battle of the Bands - UK

It's not the clipping from the playback that makes it crap. The compression prevented that. The problem is that they recorded everything with all the levels maxed and then compressed the pile of poop out of it to keep it from clipping in an absolute sense. What was clipped in the process were the to...

Re: Orange amp has a very strong hum + picks radio - any idea?

Thanks very much to all of you for such a quick response and for your great advice! :-) I called Watford valves in Hertfordshire to ask about the problem and possibly order new ones. They said this problem does not sound like something that's related to valves and that's probably something to do wi...
