Re: Boost a dirty channel: "Proper" clean boost or OD

I am completely in the "Proper Clean Boost" camp. I've tried the OCD, Soul Food (Klon Klone), the Orange Getaway Driver, DOD Looking Glass, and maybe a few other ODs with my Orange. None of them sound as good as a plain old clean boost. The muddiness is the OD's clipping not meshing well with the am...

Re: Telecaster vs Orange RV - looking for pickup recommendation

I've got an EHX Hum Debugger that I use with my Tele.. gets rid of the Hum without switching to Humbuckers or noiseless single coils. I have low-medium output Lollar pickups, I love them. I'm able to reproduce a ton of different tones on my Rocker 15 with this setup.. and it's very very quiet. Unfor...

Re: Thoughts on some Orange pedals...

Yah it's definitely very amp specific. 99% of the time I set my Rocker 15's dirty channel up like this: Gain - between noon and 1 o'clock. (I have single coils that are not "hot") Volume - 4-5 range Tone - Mostly around noon. Usually reduce bass a little, possibly raise mids a little, possibly raise...

Re: Thoughts on some Orange pedals...

Man.. I've been using the Two-Stroke more as a booster lately. It just can't seem to be beat. I picked up an EHX Soul Food used last week, tried that as the basic idea behind the Klon type pedals sounded like maybe it'd work. I like it, it is in the right ballpark. It still doesn't sound as good as ...

Re: Thoughts on some Orange pedals...

The Pigtronix Micro Clean Boost might work for me, it is cheap, but my guess is I would not like it as much as the 2-stroke... if the Pigtronix doesn't do exactly what you want in terms of what frequencies it boosts then you'd have no option of adjusting it. JHS has a little boost pedal like this to...

Re: Thoughts on some Orange pedals...

I’ve actually found it possible to still play with loud & soft dynamics with the Kongpressor but I do think I’d agree playing with it with the amp setup at the edge of breakup music would make it harder to play some notes clean and some dirty. I love playing in that zone too. But I mostly use the Ko...

Thoughts on some Orange pedals...

I seem to have a problem with buying Orange pedals, I thought I'd offer my thoughts on the ones I have. I don't really buy an excessive # of pedals but for some reason I gravitate towards the Orange ones. I've noticed a few things that I've not really seen mentioned in reviews and videos. I have a R...

Re: Footswitch experience

With my Rocker 15 + FS-1 the light is on when you're on the dirty channel and the light is off when you're on the clean channel. It sounds like you had it right the first time. The switch on the amp needs to be set to the dirty channel for the foot switch to do anything. If the amp is set to "Natura...

Tube changing question...

Maybe someone can clear this up for me. I have a Rocker 15. If I wanted to/needed to change a tube, is this something that Orange USA is OK with the owner doing? It seems to be vague based on the documentation on their site. At least once place on the website they mention it's OK for owners to swap ...

Re: Playing Orange At The Edge Of Breakup

This is pretty easy for me to get my Rocker 15 in this territory. It's really just a matter of setting the pre-amp gain in the correct region and then as others mentioned you can fine tune with the EQ on the amp, volume knob on the amp, volume knob on the guitar, and your pick attack. It is differen...

Re: Which Orange Amp is the sweet spot?

The Rocker 15 will do tube breakup down to really really quiet levels. It's probably what you want if you want to be able to play an Orange amp at super quiet -> loud levels and play anything from clean to high gain without using pedals. I have some drive pedals that I sometimes use with my Rocker 1...

Re: Speaking of Rocker 15/32 static on volume knob

I could have sworn Orange tech support told me the Rocker 15 already has JJ tubes. This stuff is so hard to tell. The amp doesn't feel the same every day. There's a lot going on. If I run the clean channel at a higher power setting with the volume lower it seems to sound better than a lower power se...

Speaking of Rocker 15/32 static on volume knob

I saw the other contentious thread. I'm not going to try and fan any flames here. Who else has had the "static on the volume knob" thing? I have always had it on my Rocker 15, but only on the natural channel. I talked to Orange about it last year and they said it was probably grid leakage on the pre...

Re: Rocker 15 issue/help

I have the same issue in my Rocker 15 but have been ignoring it for a while after talking to Orange. I don't know if this is true in your case but in mine this is only on the natural channel, and if you turn the volume knob back and forth 2-3 times it goes away until the next time you touch the Half...

Re: Seeking advice - Rocker15

I'm another Rocker 15 Owner, I am very very happy with mine, but I also am just using it at home for practice right now. I'm not sure I'd necessarily agree it is breaking up so early on the volume dial, but I don't have tons of experience cranking it, and it's hard to say just how clean someone want...
