Re: Last night...

Sounds huge through my 2x12 as well. My 4x12 sounded like it was going to blow up though. So much low end that with the gain dimed, it got squishy and sounded like a fuzzed out sub-bass drop! Are you using an EQ? The low end on mine is not very pronounced, even though bass is set at 10. It's the on...

Re: Rattling/crackling with Orange CR120 and Crush Pro 4x12

Yeah, Just the clean channel. Is it happening at higher volumes?

Ive been hoping to find the schematic on line to find a fix.

Re: Rattling/crackling with Orange CR120 and Crush Pro 4x12

Is this on the clean channel only?

Ive noticed hot pickups, or a pedal pushed over unity gain can overload the clean channel a bit and crackle. Especially on harder strums. Mostly goes away at higher volume, or turning down the guitar/pedal volume.

Seems to be a common thing. Mine does it too.

Cool merch

So my bandmate that works at our local Guitar Center got some free stuff his boss brought back from a trip. Gave some of it to me. Some picks and strings he didnt want. But also an Orange lanyard and keyring since I am a big fan of the brand. Gotta say I love the keyring. Made with the same quality ...

Same amp. Mine says "CR120". Made in '15 bought 2016. Great amp.

Re: CR120 noise on dirty channel

They do have some odd looking pots in them. I did have some issues with a scratchy gain pot that bound up a little bit. There was a pice of metal in it that looked like the nub you have to trim off of most pots. Could also cause issues with the contacts if that's your case. The pots are open backed....

Re: CR120 noise on dirty channel

Haven't experienced it with my CR, but had a similar issue with an old bass amp.

Have you looked at the circuit board yet? In my bass amp there was a busted volume pot. I would first check for any physical damage to the dirt channel pots and the traces on the PCB.

Re: Double preamp

Might need a bit more complicated set up than that if you use the amp's preamp. I believe only plugging in to the return cuts the preamp from the power amp. Easiest way to check is plug your guitar up front, put a cable or 1/4 inch adapter in the return and strum. No sound means it won't work.

Re: Always appreciate personal thanks

Its always nice. I should order some stuff from them one of these days. Getting near due for a fret job on my LP, and have a strat that needs love. Only place I get a personal thank you from so far is drum factory direct.

We need more businesses like this.

Re: Distortion problem with CR120

I can confirm its the guitar. I had a nice electromatic for a while. Anything more than a light crunch would feedback. Hollow bodies are meant to resonate. So certain notes will sympathetically resonate with the body and the distortion will compress it and make it more noticeable.

Re: which Orange amp?

Not trying to argue, but I had an OR15. It wasn't even close to being in the same league with the CR120. It was gutless in comparison for volume, bass and overall balls. Where the OR15 tops out, the CR120 is just getting warmed up. The CR120 is more akin to a 50 watter, of which I've owned and play...
