Re: Which capacitors should I order for a 1978 OR-80?
The 100uF mains cans can be 450v or 500v, they are wired in series for mains so even the 450v handle 900v with wriggle room. The 32uF screens cans can be 32 or 33uF and similarly are in series so 350v will suffice (rated at 700v combined) I like to go 10uF 200v for the bias caps as they are a little...

Re: Help please. Crush 60 some idiot has tried to use spk out as line out
I cannot raise a schem to the Crush 60 but I am surprised that as an SS amp it died with a load mismatch. I agree I would check that a fuse has not popped as I would always expect that first even feeding the speaker into a very high load (unlike a tube amp). If that does not work then worth a basic ...

Re: Rocker 32 WTF is wrong with this thing?
Check what preamp valve they replaced and with what type. If they used a 5751 or ECC81 where a 12AX7/ECC83 is normal that would cause the symptoms. Normally there are x4 ECC83s, x2 ECC81s and x4 EL84s. You must check what is there and that they are in the right slots. Do you have spare preamp valves...

Re: AD15 Mods - Questions for the Experts
Very easy. Neatest non invasive way would be a push pull pot. You interrupt the end of the cap that goes to ground. So solder one end of cap to pcb that goes to the tube and raise the other. Solder one wire to this and your switch. Solder the other wire to the empty hole on the pcb and to the other ...

Re: AD15 Mods - Questions for the Experts
The best person to answer this would be Ade but I guess he does not get time to visit here now. c4 is a cathode bypass cap. The cathode resistor of 1k5 is a very generic value for an ECC83 running a plate resistor of 100k. Adding a bypass resistor will give you a gain boost that will be quite full (...

More pictures: https://i.imgur.com/96XVYYO.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IlbYNAo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0EHo3Hx.jpg As you will see I did not copy the original faceplate/layout, I used the same hole pattern as the ORST so that the fuses went on the back (vs front on the original) and a four position Dept...

Re: ~1972 Orange OR-80
Is this a problem that could react differently with a resistive dummy load? It's puzzling since its such an obvious problem, turn the volume up, the amp output clicks and dies (at least in the audible frequency range). ??? Cheers, Nick Yes, classical PO Is the shield present inside (a lot turn up w...

Re: ~1972 Orange OR-80
The external shots I can see are not particularly helpful re working issues! The squeal is parasitic oscillation (poor wire routing - or more commonly a missing internal shield from the inputs. We cannot be sure what your tech did. It should be pretty clean and crisp up to half volume even with humb...

Re: Matamp 2000 - pics and clips added
Ok, so here is a proper schematic drawn based on two different mid 60's Matamp 2000s, one sent to me, the other one I have derived from the pictures of the pictures I showed above. As before if anyone sees any mistakes, please let me know and I will correct them. The depth pot only has x4 connection...
