Re: Hello and question for my TH30
another vote for PPC212CB on the bottom, with PPC212OB on top. the bass extension and power of the PPC212CB would be a great benefit to your style of music, and the OB cab on top gives you great dispersion ..despite both having the same speakers, they sound quite different. What cabs are in your cur...

Re: How powerful an amp can the Orange 2x12 CB take?
That may be a theory among guitarists, but it certainly has very limited to no basis in any form of science. I know in theory the watts on the cab are supposed to be double the watts of the amp. Damage to speakers comes from one of two things. a) excess cone excursion : Think of the movie back to th...

Micro Terror is loud!
no, no.. the micro terror IS loud.
I had one for a few days and returned it, but in the quest for a little more volume i connected the preamp out to the power amp of my 900W Genz Streamliner amp.. volume fixed!..

Re: NAMM 2018
The beauty of tube amps is that there is never a reason to get nervous.. ss stuff and modeling stuff gets obsolete quick but tube amps are as good as the day you get them pretty much forever. Marshall DID do a great job with the Origin and the new DSL.. the DSL line was a shrill ice pick set of too ...

yup.. a 70's band.. have seen them live twice... once in 73 at newcastle city hall when they were recording "live dates" and once here in CT about 5 or 8 years ago.. glad to see they are still going.
probably the best album is "argus" rock, melodic..they were very different...its on youtube

Re: Orange with the biggest low end punch?
isnt the answer this..? Thunderverb 50 as iirc there were discussions about this being used/useful as a bass amp due to the low end but back on the r30, and amps in general, the volume knob is more than just volume.. as you drive your output harder (turn the volume up) then power tube saturation and...

Re: Roland Blues Cube after warranty support and Orange CR120 info.
seems a strange story to me.. and the exact opposite of my experience. I have had a lot of Roland products mostly synths, workstations and groooveboxes. You can find an authorised repair center on their site, and they gt all the service documents and schematics, and these are things that are 10-100 ...

Re: PPC212V
iirc the creambacks have a much smoother mids, sounding more "polite" and "compressed" to me vs the v30, so i expect a dramatic difference to the 212OB sound.. with the ply?.. with an OB construction i suspect the thinner ply wont make quite as much sonic difference as it would in a CB construction....

Re: How much weight can a 2x12 can take?
the Orange cabs, particularly the closed back, are the most solid cabs made.. i would happily put 500lb on top of my 212CB without blinking..

Re: PPC212V.. yay or nay?..
see your point on the dimensions.. it looks like a diagonal setup as the centre of one speaker lines up with the edge of another.. so thats (say) 18" min..plus 1.25" for the ply.. so even a 1" on the short side of the baffle would give > 21"..or, allow it to be exactly the same as a full size head.....

yes it can do clean.. but the amount of clean volume may well be an issue. if you want not a hint of breakup iirc its bedroom levels only.

PPC212V.. yay or nay?..
I was REALLY excited when i saw this...
then its 15mm ply, and only 14" wide.. so this only fits the terror amps... not full size heads, or even the OR15...
ugh.. anyone else deflated?

Re: Is this a good deal for this Rocker 30?
if someone was cleaning the amp up using a kitchen cleaner, i can easily see the serial number coming off, and that on the transformers is likely rust.. very easy to get if the amp is in a humid place.. i had some on my R30 when i bought it.. a light sand with 400 grit and all off.. of course, had i...
