Re: Guitar Weight. Does it matter?

I would personally avoid the one under 6 lbs. because I have never played one that's so light that felt comfortable. Not that I would want 9 lbs. either, but I have played more guitars that are too light than ones that are too heavy. Of course there are more factors like body shape, strap button pla...

Re: Micro Terror PPC108 full stack

Depends which version of the Micro Terror you have, the older ones say on the back you can go down to 4 ohms, the newer ones 8 ohms minimum (that wouldn't work, you need 4 if you connect two cabs). I use my early version to connect to 2 8ohm 12" cabs (non-Orange) and it works fine. Although some peo...

Interesting that the legs on the Orange turntables look like they're from a Vox organ.

Here is a Vox unit for comparison, not the same except for the legs:

Re: Switching between clean/distortion for the Micro Dark?

The Micro Dark doesn't have that much headroom, if you want to dial in a clean sound you have to turn the gain pretty low, the idea being you use a pedal to get distortion. The regular Micro Terror works much better if you want to do this. Or you could do some crazy mod like two sets of volume and g...

A guitar does not play any songs, it's the player's problem if he's unable to play other things besides well-known covers, and only on the same model guitar.

Re: Vertical Stereo 212: Top or bottom speaker for dirty amp

You may eliminate ear piercing highs with the bottom speaker, but once you put a microphone to it they come back in full force.

I also would like to post: "duh".

But I guess it depends what your goals are, it would still be useful for practices and concerts if you are not going through the PA.

So I tried different valves in my Micro Dark

I tried a lot of them, interesting results. I tried most of them at least 2 times. Standard Gain Valves Sovtek 12AX7WA, WB, WC - tried 2 or 3 WAs, 1 WB, 2 WCs. Fizzy top end when cranked, not that great set clean and with a pedal for distortion either. On the other hand, two of them (one 12AX7WA and...

Re: What do you think of this?

I kind of dig it, but I'm not sure the drumming fits all that well. I wanted the drums to kind of fill in the gaps, since the playing if you look is nice and slow and has a lot of gaps/air between notes... But I think i am still working on a drum pattern that would be a bit different..... I know wh...

Re: Micro Dark on a 2x12 cab

I have both the Micro Terror and Micro Dark. I think they are both about as loud with distortion, but I think the Micro Terror is much louder clean. You can get a good clean sound with the Micro Dark, but won't be as loud. On the other hand, the Micro Dark has better and more distortion, but still n...

I would say you can use the send and use the Micro Dark as a pre-amp, all you have to do is stick a dummy jack in the headphones socket.

Interesting pedal that works well with Micro Terror

I just got an Artec SE-PEQ Parametric EQ, this one: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51noFgaM7tL._SX425_.jpg I was using a graphic eq before, but Ilike this one better for scooping the mids. It sounds more natural and tube amp sounding, and I can use the amp tone control for adding m...

Re: Microterror 2x PPC108

Orange did have all that, but it is not part of the current range. The Micro Terror originally had a 4 ohm minimum output. Now the new ones have 8 ohm min. The cabs originally had two jacks in the back, for parallel connection to use two cabs with a Micro Terror. The new ones just have one jack, sin...

Re: JJ ecc803s in gainsection causing scratchy pot!!

I have a theory. The grids are drawing current, and that's causing a DC voltage at the wiper of the gain pot. Since most modern Oranges use dual ganged gain pots, with a section between 1st and 2nd stages, and 2nd and 3rd stages, it doesn't matter which position you put the ECC803 within the dirty ...
