I have just discussed my conclusions after viewing the facts given in a video made about my amplifier with Jeff Lewis of Matamp. The video contains footage of the original builder of the amplifier dating and identifiying it. <font size="4">On the basis of this video I am now happy to claim that I ow...

Cheers for replying Stuart and did my father not buy a Mini Innocenti from you at some point - you tend to sell us your old valuable stuff dont you - lol (the Mini Innocenti was never completed before he passed away however - but that would have been a collecters item too). I hope you have enjoyed r...

Dont worry Orphin, I dont intend changing anything on the amp and after seeing the video of John Firth I am just about satisfied with its history. I am almost ready to stand up and shout that it is "The first Orange". It would be nice to get some kind of response from Orange. The biggest releif is t...

Mangaed to speak to the person I originaly bought the amp from - and instead of helping to place its origin nearer to london I am afraid it doesn't. I was expecting it to have been bought in London as that is where it was sent from when I bought it - turns out it was originally purchased in Aberdeen...

Just watched a copy of the video made when the original builder of my amp - John Firth - saw it for the first time. The video is outstanding and the way it is shot is absolutely perfect. It is totally unrehearsed and you see a man walk into a room and Identify it from a rear view - he then looks at ...

Hi Some of you may have been following my post in the serial numbers section of this site and will already know the story, for those that are unaware I shall give you the short version. I have a date - 1968

The amp was seen by the original builder today.

I am now going to see if I can find out more from the person I purchased it from 28 years ago.
Unfortunately the original seller is in Russia at the moment so will be another week or two before I can speak with him.

Here is an extract from a mail sent from Jeff at Matamp regarding the repairs to this amp :- "The update is that after 3 hours work and fitting 2 fuseholders, 2 EL34 valves and the 32u+32u caps we now have a worker giving 32watts, remember its a bass amp. I have freed the switches but they only half...

It looks like its an Orange/Matamp prototype.

NOT 100% confirmed as of yet.

I have left it with Jeff at Matamp and he will sort the electrics and try to find out whatever he can about its history.

Finally managed to arrange the time to take this Amp to the Matamp factory to get the final say on whether it is an original Matamp Series 2000 that was damaged and repaired with an Orange faceplate and case, or if it is a very early Orange/Matamp collaboration.

Expect an answer next week.
