Re: Wampler Crush

I have one of these, and was pretty disappointed in it. There is just something about it that isn't right. When I kick it in there is a pretty severe bass and low mid reduction (no matter how I EQ it). For leads however it is pretty good, but rhythm? no thanks. There are a few pro videos online and...

Anytime someone makes a sweeping generalization like this I usually question the source.
seriously. especially at TGP.

Re: What's on you pedalboard and what do you use it for?

i guess i'll go into signal chain... 1) Visual Sound Compressor: on all the time as a nice boost/tone enhancer. occasionally i'll crank up the compression for a funkier sound. think it's supposed to be a Ross clone. whatever it is, it sounds good. 2) Micro POG-set usually for with dry full, low octa...

Re: Rockerverb MKll 50 and overdrive pedals - feedback mania

imo, noise gates have far more drawbacks than benefits. you're gonna get a little bit of noise no matter what. but rock and roll is noisy. if the noise becomes unbearable, chances are you're either playing with way too much gain and your sound will be overcompressed and choked anyways; or your guita...

Re: 18volts versus 9 volts, whats the deal?

think of it much of the same way as a 50W amp and a 100W amp. the one with more power will have more headroom, which inherently means less compression, as well as a bigger, fuller sound. it actually does make a difference with most pedals...i had a Fulltone OCD which loved to run on 18V.

Re: Tone Test: Graveyard Content

hmm. i didn't take a look at the amps (except i obviously saw that #1 is an orange of some kind), but #1 is definitely more distorted and compressed...way more agressive. it also fits really well when the guitarist pulls back into rhythm. #2 is more focused and mid heavy, and a lot less gain. if i c...

Re: Or15 Vs. Dual Terror

good luck getting the poll function to work, it hasn't for a while now. sucks, i know. anyways, welcome! to answer your primary question, either amp will probably do the job well. the OR15 will probably be more adapt at handling metal, but either could do the job. it just depends on your pers...

yeah, i very much doubt you'll get up to band volumes even if you add a better cab. you'd be better off grabbing a bass terror combo or something like that.

i'm glad this thread got brought up again, it's what really got me to start the hunt for a small, neat, simple programmable true bypass looper. i guess i might as well report back on what i ended up with: http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx352/jason41224/image_zps9f077db9.jpg http://www.disasterar...

mostly anything joyo and mooer makes are pretty incredible for the price. Mooers used to be $44 apiece through some non-compliant distributors, but now they got found out and it's back to their standard $88 price

Re: New Guitar Tuner & Small Pedal Board Questions

i still maintain that the polytune is great for making on tune adjustments in between (or in the middle!) of songs. strumming once, seeing a little red LED and then zoning in on that string is a helluvalot faster than guessing unless you're really, really out.
