Re: Orange amp problems

My AD15 had a cold solder joint that was causing a similar problem.

Re: Orange crush no power /bad transformer?? Help needed

Check the voltages on the output side of the transformer to see is it's bad.

Re: Orange Terror Bass 1000 Chip

As cheap as they are I would get several so you have backups if they go bad again. If they're soldered directly to the PCB you might want to add those IC sockets that the chips plug into so they can be easily replaced if needed.

Re: Orange Terror Bass 1000 Chip

The other codes are shown at the bottom of this specs sheet (date, assembly site, and lot codes). Interesting that the chip appears to be intended for 500 Watts output but the amp claims to be 1000 watts. Makes me wonder if they're over-driving the chip and that's what the problem is... https://www....

Re: Orange Terror Bass 1000 Chip

It looks similar to this: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/BAYMAK-IRS2092STRPBF-IRS2092S-SOP16-Import-Original_60788104369.html?spm=a2700.7724838.2017115.176.702d6f0bSlAczS - different pin, though. From what I have been told these chips are a common problem and the amp is not worth fixing. I'...

Re: Orange Terror Bass 1000 Chip

Give us high res resolution of the PCB and the chip your amp repairman claims is dead. I'm sure we can find it for you from somewhere. Orange, like all other manufacturers, use standard production electronics. It is the IRS2092 chip. Since posting this I found out that the manufacturer who produced...

Re: Orange Terror Bass 1000 Chip

Have you checked eBay for the chip? Wouldn't surprise me if you could get one direct from China really cheap.

Re: Ad30 Tube and Speaker Change Questions

Even when paired with a 30w speaker? It's not the wattage rating of the other speaker that matters, it's how many watts are going through the Alnico Blue which has a 15 watt capacity. Assuming both speakers are the same resistance the Blue will get half of the power so 15 watts when your AD30 is ma...

Is an Alnico blue upgrade worth it for the money needed to be invested?

Between the tubes and the speakers, I could buy a new AC15 with a blue in it.

jmb79, plug each cab into the head and you should be fine.
Or, getting back to your original question, you can also run one speaker cable from the head to one cab, and from that cab run a second cable to the other cab. Either way will work the same.

If both cabs are 8 ohms, you can't do this, but you could either buy or make a 'parallel box' to run the two 8 ohm cabs at 16 ohms.
You would need a "series box" to run two 8 ohm cabs at 16 ohms.

Re: OT: anyone watching USA v Eng FIFA Women's World Cup right now?

No thanks. Politics aside, I considered them a national disgrace after their excessive celebration when they routed Thailand 13-0. The poor sportsmanship again with the tea sipping gesture against England today just confirms that impression.
