Currently the output valves in mine are stock. Ive got a combination of Rubys, JJs, sylvania 12at7s in there, its a marginal improvement. Just got some JAN sylvania 5751s in the post i cant wait to try out for the cleans and for lowering the final gain stage a touch. Ill let you know how they sound....

Personal preference. Open back will have looser low end, sound less directional and focused, and the speakers are set diagnally which is probably better than blasting your ankles away. Could be a faulty valve/volume pot. Had a similar issue with my th30... Where the pot wasnt doing much of anything.

Orange should replace it for you.

Preamp valves will make more of a difference. I replaced mine pretty sharpish.
