Re: Rocker30 tube swap (KT77-6CA7-EL34)

Hi, so we are a couple of months later and I had some time to A/B a few sets of tubes. I compared the following (EH stands for electro harmonics): JJ E34L / old EH 6CA7 / JJ 6CA7 / EL34 EH / JJ KT77 I played the rocker30 through the speaker in the combo, a Celestion Creamback65. First of all the old...

Re: Rocker30 tube swap (KT77-6CA7-EL34)

I ordered some JJ KT77's and a pair of JJ 6CA7's
I'll swap them around for a couple of months and I will see what I like the most.

Thanks for the advice

Re: Rocker30 tube swap (KT77-6CA7-EL34)

Before the EL34's I had those 6CA7's in it, they were the original tubes. The EL34's sound a little to bright for me, especially if I play my combo not hooked to an extension cab (4x12 or 2x12). I miss a little bottom end... So before switching to 6CA7's again I wondered if KT77 will be a better mat...

Rocker30 tube swap (KT77-6CA7-EL34)

Hi,

I was wondering if I can just plug a pair of KT77's in my Rocker30?
Now I have a pair of EL34's but I don't like them so much.
So I've read that the KT77 is a EL34 with more bottom-end and a higher output (will it make my amp louder?).
Also, which brand should I go for?

Cheers

Re: HB sized P90 options?

I have tried both the Phat Cat and the P94.
Personally the P94 wins! I'm a big fan of the Gibson pick-ups in general.

There are a lot of options out there. You can contact Bareknuckles, give the specs of the guitar, amp, what tones you want and they will suggest what BarknucklePU you can use!

Re: Anybody using Zilla Cabs?

Sounds great .....what (in my head) puts me off about the super fat boy is that there will be a lot of bottom end - the RV needs somrthing thats going to assist cutting through a band mix. Is that that the case ? Is it to the detriment of other higher frequencies? The utube videos Ive seen of the S...

Re: Anybody using Zilla Cabs?

I have the Zilla Super Fatboy 2x12"

Using it with my Rocker30C, it sounds very good.
I swapped the speaker in my Rocker for a Celestion Creamback 65, the Zilla is loaded with V30's.
The superfatboy sounds more towards a Bogner oversized 2x12", but for almost half the price...

Re: Most versatile amps ever

Never thought I would say this but how about a Kemper? A couple of friends of mine who are working as studio guitarists have Kempers and they're very pleased... Edit: if she wants the real thing; Vox AC30, OR50, Jim Root Terror, a Marshall or Blackstar and a Fender. I think you have a good point wi...

Re: OFFICIAL DREAM RIG THREAD

Dreamrigs are awesome, especially in your dreams. I had to minimise my gear due to financial reasons. I had 5 amps, 2 412's and 2 212's and lots of guitars. I cut down to 3 guitars (1 Gibson, 1 Strat and an Godin Acoustic), 3 very cool guitars and 1 amp: the Orange rocker30C with and additional 2x12...

Re: Open Back 412? Why Not...

I think the Marshall JTM45/100 full stack had a oversized bottomcab closed back and an angled 4x12" cab with open back on top. If you're very lucky, maybe you can find one of those I think the trick with those was that the back panel was 7/8 closed with just a sliver open along one side. They look ...

Re: Holy crap, R30+Tele=SEX!

Teles and R30's are the pile of poop, I had a Squier Classic Vibe Tele, when played through the clean channel cranked it was instant Led Zep time...
I sold that Tele because I mainly play metal, one day a Tele will enter the house again...
