Re: My last days as an Orange owner...
So 59 posts in on the Jackson Ampworks board, what amp will catch your attention?
I'm not sure I understand... :)
I'm giving you a hard time. Did you give it a fair shake? If you like the sound of a ballsy AC-30, have you tried the AD30TC?
Of course you where... ;) I p...

Re: My last days as an Orange owner...
That's right, I just picked up a Jackson Ampworks Newcastle. Basically to fund this new amp I have to let go of the Rockerverb 50 Combo goodness. A lot of GREAT memories with that beast of a music maker. These days I find myself wanting something more transparent with tons of clean headroom. Though...

Re: My last days as an Orange owner...
lot's of people giving up their Oranges lately. Myself included, except for the OR120. Isn't that Newcastle an 18watt amp? I don't see how you're going to have more cleanheadroom on that over the RV50. Those things breakup into full on crunch at noon on the volume control. I should clarify. :) I gu...

Re: Gigging with Rocker30 (another praising the amp thread)
That's great to hear. Actually, as of lately I've been looking to trade my rockerverb 50 combo for a rocker 30 combo. A 2x12 combo hasn't been nessesary for me lately. I know, two different amps and sounds but if I'm letting go of my orange it should be replaced with another orange.

Re: Rockerverb MKi Reverb tube swap
What about swapping the tank? I did on mine and sounded great. I don't know that the tubes have a lot to do with it like Andy said. Happy hunting! Yeah that's what I've decided to do now after seeing how easy it is to replace the tank. I put up a topic about changing my tank in the technical sectio...

Re: More brightness and bite from my Thunderverb??
I did sort of the same thing with my Rockerverb mk1 combo. Replaced the stock cap on the clean channel with a NOS Silver Mica 120pf cap. Definitely brightened the tone up. For the better of course. :) I'm just curious as to how you found the location of the right cap? I was told by an online source ...

I sold my PPS Custom 24, 10 Top a few years back. I regretted it so much I bought a Duesenberg Starplayer Special.

While we're at it, if someone wants to show me where to buy a Zvex Box of Rock for $100, let me know. Good luck finding one for that much. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=zvex+box+of+rock&_sacat=0&_odkw=lovepedal+provalve&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1311" onclick="window.open(this.href);retur...

Re: new tubes
Hey there. I bought directly from Eurotubes. Actually right from the location since I lived so close. Anyway, I would recommend buying from "Bob" and trusting his expertise. JJ tubes are great as I have had them in my RV50C for over a year now. Albeit tubes aren't always consistent and might fail af...

Re: dirty channel hum/hiss
I had the same problem with my RV50. I believe it was a few things. Both of the tubes for the clean channel were bad and some of the connections were dirty/dusty. Weird. The reason you hear it most with the dirty channel is from the amount of gain through the channel. I took mine to a solid amp tech...

Re: Rockerverb MKII Dirty Channel too quiet?
I think I may have caused some confusion. I was simply implying that I had experienced new tube failure. Not that the PI tube had anything to do with the volume drop. Sorry if I had miscommunicated that issue. You are in safe hands with these Orange pros 'coltonwise'.
