Re: Funniest/most creative names for stompboxes

A friend of mine had two pedals made for him by the engineers in his studio. They were synth type fx if I remember correctly.

They could be used seperately, but were designed to be connected together . . . . called the 'Lady Boy' and 'Strap On'

Re: Fender Pawn Shop 2.0 What We Thinking?

That bass is suh-weet! I want one, too - but if they did a guitar like that, I'd want it even more. There's something about the look of a lefty Jaguar that really does it for me... and the Mustang and whatever-illo look good too. That third guitar will only sell to 80's casualties. I've always real...

Re: Seth Baccus guitar through tiny terror vid.

Yeah - they're big advocates of BKP at Mansons. Prob a Mississippi Queen P90 and something like an Emerald.

Hey Lamp - do you know Tim Stark too?? Another lovely dude and fine luthier from the Mansons stable :D

That single-cut looks rad mate!

Re: Stolen Gear! UK

No probs Charley - any time! Sorry it was playing up so much! I'm wondering if the cab's impedance was an issue - they weren't labelled, but one the guys reckoned they might have been 4ohm!? Any body else got input on this: "i shall definitely be purchasing another orange rockerverb as they are in m...

Seth Baccus guitar through tiny terror vid.

Hey all, Thought this vid might be of interest. It's been made by a chap called Claudio Santos to show off his new guitar - which was made by a fella called Seth Baccus. Seth is a lovely guy who I got to know years ago through Manson's guitar shop. Seth is Hugh Manson's step nephew, so Andy Manson's...

Re: Spotify in the states yet?

Yeah, I'm with you there guys. I've taken to buying all my new music on Vinyl now. Half the time they either give you a CD too, or download codes anyway. Having my band E.P. mastered buy a dude who specialised in Vinyl mastering really opened up my eyes to what I was missing out on. I'd been wonderi...

Re: Another Biyang believer here...

I run a Biyang EQ pedal into the front of my Thunderverb.

I kinda use it as the final boost to really push things into doominess - with the +15dB boost maxed out and a bit of a mid spike.

Re: Stolen Gear! UK

Thanks for all the input guys! Bear in mind it's not my band, but I will pass on your ideas - I'm sure the girls will much appreciate all the help! Glad to say they made it down to play the show in Exeter with us. They're also going to continue with the rest of their tour, since all the bands have a...

Stolen Gear! UK

Hi guys, My band 'ThirtyOne' are supposed to be playing a show with a Brighton based band called 'Vier' tonight. We've just had word that whilst in Bristol last night, they had their van broken into and most of their gear stolen. They're a great band and a fine bunch of ladies, so if any of you guys...

Re: 50's wiring - wimpy sound issue - help?

Hmm, Well the stock pickups sounded guff anyway and the guitar had some faulty wiring, so there's not much to compare to there. I wanted to give the 50's wiring a crack because my other humbucking guitars (SG, Explorer) tend to muddy up quite a bit when I roll off on the vol. Sometimes in live, band...

Re: 50's wiring - wimpy sound issue - help?

Thanks for the input guys. I'm suspecting the miscellaneous pot might be the culprit. I could probably do with a better soldering iron. Its fine for lighter work, but seems to struggle soldering connections to the pots. You may well be right about burning/over heating the pot. I shall get another an...

Re: Anyone played a Hendrix style Strat with the bridge pick

To be honest, I found it to be more of a difference in feel with the extra string length, but it definitely does alter the behavior of the string. A bit like a reverse Firebird. Become all the more noticable if you start to downtune too.

50's wiring - wimpy sound issue - help?

Hey guys, I recently picked up an Epiphone Korina Firebird super cheap as a bit of a project guitar. I had a few parts kicking around, so thought I'd try making up a 50's style wiring harness using CTS custom 'Vintage Taper' split-shaft 500k pots and 0.022uF K40Y-9 NOS capacitors - the same capacito...

Re: Anyone played a Hendrix style Strat with the bridge pick

The other guitarist in my band used to have a Voodoo Strat. He regrets selling it immeasurably. I'm not sure I remember the pickup placement making a huge difference to the sound. I think the 'upside down' headstock had a bigger effect, altering the string tensions. Lower on the bass strings, lettin...
