Re: The story of your first Orange
I'm lucky, in a way. My first Orange is the one I still have today. 74 (I think) OR120 with the matching cab. However, I also run the amp through a Peavey 5150 cab at the same time. The amp and cab were given to me by my Dad around 8-9 years ago. He wasn't using them and I started getting interested...

Re: Tube Question - OR120 KT88 or EL34
no answers? btw: since your or120 doesn't have a master knob you must be runnin' that thing damn loud for your sound? Yeah, pretty surprised actually. Figured someone would have at least told me where this topic was already addressed. Ah well. I do have a MV mod installed in these pics. It's on the...

Tube Question - OR120 KT88 or EL34
This is probably not the first time this question has come up. I tried using the search feature, but I kept receiving a message that search was unavailable. SO - if there is a decent thread to answer my question, please post a link and I'll be happy to read away. I have a vintage OR120 and have been...

Re: OFFICIAL ORANGE SOUND CLIP THREAD
That is some wicked tone man. I really dug when the clean guitar came in. Listening to it makes me want to smoke some weed. Btw, I loled when I read all your influences and saw Mariah Carrie at the end. Thanks dude - Sorry for the late reply, been away from the forums since my amp has been working....

Re: OR120 volume limiter
The OR120's echo loop is a parallel loop, not series. Sorry. 8) when i was talking to one of the tech's at the place where i had my master vol mod installed (85 bucks), he said he could use either the effects loop or the slave out jacks. i dunno if that would apply to your amp, though. Here's what ...

Re: OR 120: change impedance if you remove tubes?
"You of course did have the valves correctly placed. (If you hadn't then you'd get a very strange sound from the amp as only about half the waveform would be amplified by the power section. If wouldn't sound right at all!) I don't understand though how the valve could have blown AFTER the HT fuse. ...

Re: OR 120: change impedance if you remove tubes?
"More specifically, if running on two power valves you really want to remove one of the left hand pair and one of the right hand pair, not both from one side. That way you'll still have a working push pull pair. And yes, since this changes the effective impedance of the amps output section, do run ...

Re: OR 120: change impedance if you remove tubes?
Yes, as a rule of thumb, this is true. An output transformer isn't perfect at matching the impedance of the power tubes with the impedance of the speakers across the entire frequency range, but this rule of thumb will maintain the closest possible match when you monkey with the number of power tube...

OR 120: change impedance if you remove tubes?
sorry if this question has been posted before but i didnt see it, specifically, in a search. ive got my OR120 in the shop for some troubleshooting and some other stuff. when i was telling the tech the issues of the amp, he noticed that i had only two tubes in. we talked about it for a bit and the te...

Re: vintage OR120 through a Traynor YBA1?
Your tech may also be doing the Marshall mod because it's EASIER! 8) Oranges don't have much problem with the post phase inverter master volume. Like I said, that's what the Orange Overdrives of that era had in them. I don't usually think too highly of amp techs, they tend to think of Oranges as if...

Re: vintage OR120 through a Traynor YBA1?
yeah dont sweat it. yeah i talked to the tech about it and he mentioned the phase inverter and he explained what the process is. it sounded like snoopy's teacher talking, so i asked for the idiot version. he said "basically, im setting this up as if it were a marshall master volume mod. old fenders ...
