Re: Transformer hum increases with reverb

I ordered a new reverb tank - model 8AB2A1B. All the impedance matches etc but the input on this tank is grounded apparently so I think I need to do a mod? I can't see any extra wires though on the new tank. Also the input/output sockets are different, they are the newer rca jacks so my old cables d...

From what the website says it only has 3 springs. I may give Orange UK a call though to see what they say.

Re: Transformer hum increases with reverb

Could my reverb tank be faulty? My tank is a 3 AB2C1B which is the same as yours (I think the first number is just the manufacturers/size reference) and I've had trouble finding a replacement. What site did you find that replacement tank? It could be faulty, maybe a grounding issue in the tank but ...

Re: Transformer hum increases with reverb

You modified your tank with Blues Junior parts if I recall correctly ? Chances are the input impedance of the tank is no longer correct. Reverb tanks are not expensive, I would suggest you buy a replacement and make sure the model codes are correct so that the input and output impedance is correct....

Transformer hum increases with reverb

Hi, The output transformer on my Rockerverb 50 head brings in a huge amount of hum when I turn the reverb up. I'm pretty sure it's the output transformer because when I move the input side of the tank closer to it, it gets really loud! Anyone had any similar problems? Could I use some shielding? Tha...

Re: Reverb cable?

I've pretty much fixed the reverb issue. I pulled out the insides of my Blues Junior tank and replaced that into the rockerverb tank. So I have reverb again, although the output transformer brings in a huge amount of hum when the reverb is turned up. I'll start another thread.....

Re: Reverb cable?

Thanks for the link Andy. I've since stripped back the green and black wires on the input side and soldered them directly, instead of using the plastic connector. Still nothing though. I'm going to replace those wires altogether and if that doesn't work I'd say I need to order a new tank.

Re: Reverb cable?

I'm now thinking that the problem lies between the input RCA jack on the tank and the springs. When I plug into the other tank I'm getting a reverbed guitar signal. This tank has different input connections so it doesn't fit properly to tell, but there's definitely a reverb there. Anyone had any sim...

Reverb cable?

Hi, The reverb on my Rockerverb 50 head hasn't worked in about 3 years and I've finally decided to find the root of the problem. I think it's the rca input cable for the tank........ When I flick the springs with my finger I can hear them coming through the amp. This leads me to believe that the tan...

Re: Rockerverb reverb crackle

Hi Brian, thanks for the info. I might leave into FSV then and see how it goes. If that doesn't do the trick then I'd have no problem travelling to get it fixed.
Thanks again for the reply.....

Re: Rockerverb reverb crackle

Maybe mine are too, it just looked like they were soldered onto the board. I'll give it a go. You disconnected your reverb cable completely and it helped?

Thanks

Re: Rockerverb reverb crackle

Ok I took the cables out of the reverb tank and powered up the amp. It was still crackling, and when I put my finger over the tips of the cables it made a humming sound............kind of like touching the tip of a guitar cable when the amp is on. The reverb cables are soldered right onto the board ...

Rockerverb reverb crackle

Hi, My RK50 head crackles after powering up. It used to settle down after a couple of minutes but now it constantly does it. I've changed power tubes and preamp tubes but still no joy. The reverb stopped working about a year ago and I tried changing the tube on that also but it still didn't work. I'...
