id say go for the matamp. the gt retro or gt1 is what you want. orange amps arent bad, but i think matamps STILL have more tone. the or120 is similar to the GT120 and GT1/GT Retro. great amp, i will never sell it. you can't get those tones from other amps. Oh look who chimed in... :D :D GT120 love ...

It pairs well with a Matamp GT120 or a Sunn Sceptre from my experience. Not so much with my JCM800.

I'd like to hear what you think of the OR120 compared to your Matamp GT-120...

I use a Malekko Spring Chicken... The Chicklet is also awesome... Look into these before going with the more mass produced stuff...

The transformer getting hot isn't normal... It should only be slightly warm to the touch... It's like it's pushing too much load.

Check for loose transformer tap connections...

My single channel AD30 had the same issue...

My AD30 crapped out the other day on me. It went to about 1/5th of the volume it normally has. I ordered a full set of tubes to replace the existing ones. This didn't help. Yes, the Rocker 30 is self-biasing. I would start with the most simple solution and work forward. Try a tube change, if that doesn't work I would start looking for broken solder joints and loose connections. Or just get it into your tech if you arent comfortable poking around inside your amp..
