i played a marshall 1936 cab with those speakers...and mine blew it away...i have since closed the back and it still sounds awesome!

i've loved RS for quite some time...he was playing Reeve's for awhile but seems to be stuck on Orange now!

the thing about breaking in speakers is...you don't have to push them to break them in...aka loud loud volumes (especially for a 4x12)...you just want to get the speaker moving...break the cone in...you at least want a moderate volume...b/c that helps move the cones the one thing i really found was....

when i got my last cab...new...i plugged it into my old SS amp and ran my ipod into it while i was at work for three days...i placed couch cushions around it, turned it up to a decent volume and away i went...8.5 hrs later...home and turned it off... i found it made the V30's a load-ton better sound...

so...here's what i did... i had a piece of plywood kicking around...so i measured and cut. found two pieces of wood, screwed them into the backs of the existing panels, and then screwed the new panel on it verdict... while the bass did seem a little tighter, a little volume was lost and definitely m...

i have a MESA recto 2x12 that is closed back and the thing sounds awesome...i got a great deal on this cab... my next gig is on the third floor, no elevator...the orange weighs close to 30lbs lighter than the mesa...but with my originals band i find the chunk is there a little more with the closed b...

closing the opening
i have an open back Orange 2x12...i want to close it...see if that will make it a little 'tighter' but before i waste a piece of plywood i wanted to ask if any of you have done this...and what the outcome was?

i asked in the technical forum...but no response as of yet...
i opened up my 2x12OB and there is a circuit board attached to the jacks...does it do anything special?
i want to rewire it to 4ohm and want to make sure i'm not going to cause any problems...

i just bought a used one and have a question... i took the back off because i wanted to wire it to 4ohm, but i found a circuit board...does it do anything special? can i just rewire the cab to the circuit board? to cut connections down, i had planned on only soldering two spots...i can move the jump...

i built an LMB-1 clone...well two... i keep one out front for goosing the clean channel, or for a boost when soloing on the clean channel.. and i keep one in the loop...i keep the gain high on my amp...with it in the loop (serial) i can boost my dirty signal to get a louder distorted tone for solos....
