Re: NCD!!! Finally found one I like :D

Nice. I built an OS212 clone several years ago and it was a great sounding cab. Other people wanted it, I eventually sold it. Been thinking about making a 112, but not sure if its what I want and its a bit of work. 112’s have always sounded boxy to me, but the Port City makes me curious if it would ...

Re: Any idea where to find an AD30 single channel?

After about 10 years of ownership / primary ampage, my beloved AD30 single channel was stolen. I am absolutely gutted. Does anyone in the USA have a lead on one? There do not appear to be any available on reverb or forums I browse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Wow, I’m sorry to hear that!...

Re: AD30 pre-amp tubes

I just get JJ's for my AD30TC... I find that when I put in new tubes, the difference is startling enough from the older tubes that had slowly changed character despite being the same brand of tubes... They are just dependable aren't they? Might make the order this evening and see where we are. I fi...

Re: AD30 pre-amp tubes

I find with a 12AT7 it’s a bit too much, takes some life out of the amp. I prefer to use a 5751, it’s less gain than a 12AX7, and a bit more musical to my ears than a 12AT7.

Re: 1972 OR80 - Restored on Turret Board - My First Build

Looks good. My only real criticism would be to try and get those big filter caps secured a little better. The small width turret board isn’t ideal for longer cals and bending the wire underneath like that and having them raised makes them susceptible to movement and weakening on the solder joint. M...

Re: Fuzz roundup

Yeah, you can’t get around it and everything is a copy of something somewhere. There are some unique ones that were ripped off, Superbolt being one of those, snd another pedal I really like! Its meant to sound like a Supro, but obviously not a clone of one, and was ripped from a pedal building foru...

Re: Fuzz roundup

They make great pedals, but sure wish he’d get permission first on these clones. I know what you mean but in a lot of ways aren't a very high percentage of pedals just clones with "improvements" or "tweaks" or what have you? I mean all the early fuzzes were alterations of the same circuit the Maest...

Re: 1972 OR80 PT Wiring "SCR"

If it’s an original transformer and schematic I’d follow that and check all your connections. Should be a ground somewhere.

I have this waiting for me at home, unfortunately I’m away for work at the moment so I can’t try it!! JHS Cheese Ball, a direct clone of the discontinued Lovetone Big Cheese from the 90’s. I’ve been interested in the Lovetone Big Cheese sound for some time and the originals are crazy expensive. Fou...

Re: 1972 OR80 PT Wiring "SCR"

Never worked on one of those amps, but maybe see what windings it's connected to. Schematic will definitely help you.

Re: The Orange Sound

I did the same when I had one but in the end I just found the rocker 30 to be a bit too wild for my liking. It definitely has that orange character tho....just wild. The AD30 definitely has a vintage vibe going on. Classic sounds all over the place and you can get the tubes cooking a bit too which ...
