Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

The amp MAY in fact not have taken any damage from this at all. I have heard it being said that the transformer should not take any damage unless the power amp stage has a signal to work with. Now, I don't know if this is true, and if it is, it would also depend on whether the signal would reach the...

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

I hate to be a dongle-narf here, but I still cannot believe how some new owners of expensive equipment can be completely oblivious to this part in the instruction manual, that is written very visible in the beginning of the booklet next to a large "danger" sign: “Speaker Outputs” must be connected t...

Re: Is it that big a deal about this cord?

RCA cable is too thin, and might heat up causing its isolation to melt and eventually a short. It is not ment to handle the amount of current that goes through speaker cables. Lamp cord is thicker and has two separate wires (where RCA has one wire + shield), so you would be safe(r) with that kind.

Re: Orange micro terror amp head feeding two ppc108 cap?

You can connect two PPC108 cabinets to the Micro Terror, but don't expect the volume to double. It might give you a little more volume, but hardly enough if you have problems being heard already. The 20W rating on the PPC108 tells you how much power the cabinet can handle before taking damage. Two c...

Re: OR15H Tone controls. 'Cut' only?

Most tube amps including this one have passive tone stack, meaning cut only. But they are still tuned to sound the most "neutral" with the controls at noon.

Re: Tone Help - Achieving the fat FUZZ w/ Orange

I have lately experimented with several fuzz pedals, from plain fuzz face clones, to muff style fuzzes. I have done this on my OR50, so I don't know if this applies to all amp models, but here is what I experienced with all of them: The gain-control on the amp is the key. In my experience, the top-e...

Re: Tubes for Rocker 30 to lower the volume?

You can lower the wattage to 15 watts by employing a set of THD Yellow Jackets and EL84s. But it will change the tone, and only lower the volume a little bit.

Try an attenuator instead.

Re: Dual Terror with 2 PPC212OB Cabinets?

Old thread, but hey, I could chip in for you. I have 2x PPC212OBs in a stack, and I have closed both cabs. Used proper 18mm plywood and orange tolex, and I even used the old screw holes in the cab. No need to make new ones, so the procedure is completely reversible if you change your mind or want to...

Re: which of these pickups are suited well for a LP thru a R

I agree with funky_wrench on this one.

JB is much more trebly than the PAFs IMO. I had a les paul with JB in it and hated it, way too spiky in the high mids for my preference (stoner-stuff), but for fast and tight modern metal stuff it is perfect!

Re: Orange cab caster install

Has anyone done a comparison with skids vs wheels on an Orange PPC cab? Do the skids really improve the sound, or is it just sales gimmick from Orange, trying to save money by not adding wheels to their cabs?

Re: Clean Channel with Pedals or Amp Distortion

I used distortion pedals with my first amps, back when solid state amps or low-drive valve amps was what I could afford. After aquiring more "proper" amps that have drive that suit me better, I have ditched the pedals. Believe me, I have tried a bunch, but none of them felt right, compared to the am...

I cannot live without a tuner. I can get by without the rest if I need to.
