OK, well I guess I got it off my chest alright... interesting to see I was getting the hardest time from the guys who are closer to my age (except Brian, who was as charming as ever). A particular good luck to Teddy who has a great band and Josh Blacklight who seems to be getting it together pretty ...

Wasn't looking for any support or anyone to side with me. Just planned to quit and wanted to raise a couple of issues that I'd been thinking about before I went. I can't believe I'm the only person on here who thinks he wastes too much time reading these posts, am I? That was my point, and it's just...

Thanks Heartsndspades... Sherman's maybe a good case in point. These guys who are getting on with it, are getting on with it. Isn't that the best thing? But if you're still prevaricating amybe this is the time... make your resolution for 2009 be... stop posting, start making it happen. And no worrie...

Gave my son my Tokai LP goldtop deluxe with Bigsby... I'd upgraded the pickups and completely rewired it. I loved that guitar, prefered it to my Gibby, but pleased he'll have a nice guitar to play. He seems pretty keen and that guitar will only help. He gave me a nice book by a guy called A C Grayli...

Van Cleef... I'm sorry I gave offence... as I said above, I love playing for fun - it's wahat I do. I was just talking about those who don't want the day job, those who are busy trying to make it their living. It was quite revealing what Rob Chapman said... too busy to post on here... and he's even ...

I should probably have mentioned at the outset, this is as much to do with my own annoyance at having spent for too much time on this and a couple of other forums... so my New Year's resolution is no posting other than for important technical, 'how-to' questions. It's such a time-eater and I need to...

You're right Wendygo, I'm aware I sound like a pompous old git but what the hell, it's the internet... nobody knows! However, I did spend over ten years working for one of the biggest and most successful indie record organisations of all time and saw a lots of bands do very well. Josh is right, the ...

No worries... I'm never going to take any offence from postings here. I'm not being down on other people's work... quite the opposite, working in covers bands, tribute acts, even just playing around the house is great fun... I meet up every couple of weeks and play music with other old fogeys and I'...

That's a pretty good start Josh... exciting times for you. I suspect in a few years time you've got a good chance of having been through it all. But I'm still really looking to find out if anyone has or is actually doing it now or has done it... publishing/recording deal, management, agent, albums, ...

I'd put markjazzbassist ahead so far... but that sounds like session/backing work, which is obviously very impressive, but I'm still wondering about anyone who has a deal for their own material, their own songs. There are lots of forum members pursuing this, writing songs, gigging their own material...
