Re: Finally got some tracks recorded of the new band

Ok, second listen through helped a lot. Portal definitely stuck out in my mind and it's almost tough to listen to the song the whole way through. It seems more of a jam than a "regular" song. That one, if you aren't married to it, I think could be broken apart in to two different songs or something....

Re: Finally got some tracks recorded of the new band

I noticed it throughout the songs. It seemed the drummer kinda got lost or the guitar riffs drifted and things got really messy at different parts and then you guys kind of recovered after a little bit. I'll give another listen and try and get more specific examples. I'm a big fan of using a single ...

Re: Finally got some tracks recorded of the new band

I think the addition of vocals might help, but I think the songs lack a little bit of focus. I think you could stand to simplify things a little bit as well. Just my opinion, doesn't amount to a hill of beans. I love the Fall of Troy, At the Drive-In and all that, and vocals might help focus the son...

Re: Just Ordered some Scumbacks

I've got a pair of J75's headed my way to put in a cabinet that I should be putting the final touches on this week. I've played nothing but vintage 30's up until now, so I'm excited to hear what's in store.

Re: Cab build....Need advice/Help

nothing's going to look pretty unless you order more tolex, but have you cut in handles yet? that should afford you a little more tolex. might that be enough to make patches?

Re: The New Vox AC15hw1 and AC30hw2

I unfortunately bring no knowledge but more questions. I'm very interested in finding an amp with an ef86 preamp tube that covers similar overdrive tones to an ad30 and has channel switching. It seems the Bad Cat Black Cat is the only candidate but when I saw the handwired ac30's I had hope for a ch...

Re: Oler Pedals getting some publicity

All very cool Neil. The pedals are certainly more fun and interesting for the rest of us, but all the school and "real" jobs will feed those little mouths in your house. Good on you keeping priorities straight.

Is that a Klon clone in the Premier Guitar thing?

Oler Pedals getting some publicity

I was over at The Gear Page and some one was showing off that their guitar was used in Premier Guitars Unique Instruments gallery. As i scrolled through I was pleasantly surprised to see Neil sent in some photos of the pedals he's making and made it in! http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/20...

Hey Neil, if you end up not digging the winged C's after all I highly suggest the JJ E34L's. The extra midrange that's described makes for a nice punchy tone I think.

Re: fancy studio today

Well I'm glad I can go bright white and not rip either of you off completely then! I think my SG is about get a major overhaul. It has EMG's in it right now and I miss playing it. The EMG's just don't encourage it to get out of the case. I've got a nickel Custom Custom/Pearly Gates set sitting aroun...

Re: fancy studio today

Studio looks like a lot of fun. On a bit of a side note, I spent more time than I'd like to admit today fantasizing about putting a Bigsby and a white pickguard on my faded SG. So if you two could provide more photos of your guitars, it'd help me convince myself it's definitely a good idea.

Re: OT: Guitar Swap... What should I do?!

Do that trade, no doubt. Those guitars are fantastic. I have one and it's always been tough to try and make an argument that one of my other guitars is better. I think they were made to be Gbison's answer to the PRS custom 22's and 24's and whatnot and I think they could definitely give the PRS a ru...
