Re: I bought a AD30 but I prefer my Dual Terror. Is this nor
In my experience it takes an AD30 an abnormally long time to fully "warm up." The tones I get out of it after it has been cooking the tubes for a half hour are much different than the tones when I first boot her up. YMMV but I would give the amp a little while, especially because you are used to the...

Re: NPD (New Picks Day)! -- V-PICKS (& Orange)
I got a set of the acrylic Gravity picks a while ago for free as a demo promo. I didn't like them too much to be honest. They felt great to play, and the tone coming from the guitar was a little brighter, but the sound of the pick hitting the string made a very brief high pitched buzzing sound that ...

Re: NGD: 1965 Guild Starfire III
Those Guilds are most definitely under-rated. The Starfire basses are also supposed to be the bomb. Curious if, like the Starfire bass, the guitars came with Swedish Hagstrom pickups. Supposedly much superior to the pickups they started using by the early '70s. I think they put proprietary Guild/De...

Re: 339 vs 335?
Well, I was really liking the looks of the handwired's, and I didn't want to believe you, but you are very right sir! I went back and tried out two more 335's, both of them through a vox handwired, and then through the C2 (which I own). I found the handwired amps to be boomy as hell just like last ...

Re: NGD: 1965 Guild Starfire III
I'm digging that guitar. You got a good price me thinks. It looks to be in superb condition. I'm glad you didn't redrill the holes. That probably would have been a bad idea. Thanks for the compliments, I am proud of my find. Yeah I wanted to avoid drilling at all costs and probably would have wusse...

Re: NGD: 1965 Guild Starfire III
Thanks guys. Yeah, you would think someone in the factory would notice they are drilling holes totally in the wrong place or that one of the previous owners would have been bothered with the misalignment. Anyways, she didn't set me back too far, around XXXX, and it will probably gain some more value...

I am participating. I found out about it from some Australian friends though, so it might not be that big here. I did no shave November the last two years

Re: NGD: 1965 Guild Starfire III
Hey guys, back with an update. I removed the bigsby to check and see if the mounting holes are original, and as you can see, they were. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6051/6304202405_cc7fcd2002_z.jpg I tried the quick fix here, just to see if it would work. I put about an eighth of an inch of a wood...

NGD: 1965 Guild Starfire III
Hey guys, it has been a little while since I have posted, but I am still lurking in the shadows  I just recently picked up a vintage 1965 Guild Starfire III in Cherry red with original mini humbucking pickups and bigsby. The guitar looks and plays beautifully and I am really excited to fina...

Going to see them in November. I'm pretty pumped about it. Might get seriously injured at the show, but will be totally worth it.

Re: I just scored an Ad30r
Thanks guys.
I am excited to use this beast. I just have to decide what my course of action is going to be with the speakers.
Also, do you guys know if I can still go through Orange USA to get the output transformer, or do I have to go to Mercury themselves?

I just scored an Ad30r
So, I was able to trade my AD30htc straight up for a minty condition 2003 AD30r and I have a couple of questions. First, does anyone know when Orange started using the more beefed up output transformers? I want to switch out the one in here if it is only 2 cores. Second, is the reverb footswitchable...
