I quite liked that the one bass head Orange made was all tube, so I am a bit disappointed in Orange about this.

There is nothing wrong with SS bass heads, but a million other companies make them so I wonder why Orange didn't just keep their reputation for making great tube heads.

Lots of Digitech hate, which I can almost agree with, except that the Bad Monkey is one of the coolest overdrive pedals for bass I have ever tried, and the speaker sim output is super useful since everyone expects bassists to DI.... Anytime I hear the words "Zoom", "Multi FX" or "Flanger" I cringe, ...

I have two 4003's (among a few other basses, P, Jazz, G&L) and they work really well with my AD200B.

My non Rics work really well with my Orange and GK 800RB, but the Rics really stand out a lot more on the AD200B. Great combo in my opinion.

Sound over looks, but you could easily change the grill cloth on an Orange cab, or even go with another brand cab in the cosmetics you like. People rave about a cab by Bergantino called the NV610. Its an "Ampegy" sounding 6x10 with as much balls as an 8x10 with the weight of a 4x10. Its a small comp...

I find it strange that people want advice about Marshalls on the Orange forum.... Anyway, as you know theres lots of JCM800s. There were even solid state ones but I don't know anything about them. 1959 and 1987: Non master volume "plexi" heads in JCM800 cosmetics. Two channels (normal and bright) bu...

Its an Australian brand that are also common in New Zealand. They just made solid state stuff until a few years ago. When I first saw one of their tube heads in a store I had a go for a laugh. I played it for about 3 mins before it started making strange noises and then just went dead. I don't remem...

I'm from New Zealand, but they aren't that common here either (not like the Hotcake). A friend in another city has one that he uses with a tele and one of those Marshall 18 watt combos, it sounds cool but I haven't had a chance to try it myself.

Playing an AD200B MK3 now, along with a GK 800RB sometimes. Before the AD200B I had an Ampeg V4BH. Before that a Jansen Bassman 50 (60's/70's NZ made Fender clone. Still use this one for guitar). Before that a GK 700RB mk2 (piece of crap!). Before that a Laney DP150 (still have this). Various cabs o...

I used to play pop punk (90's NOFX/Lagwagon type, not Good Charlotte).

While I really love Fender and G&L guitars, I found that Gibsons suited this style better for me (and most other pop punk bands).
Whatever you get it needs a bridge humbucker.

Its a tube amp, so you will get its full power if you use one of the available impedences, in the case of the AD200B 8 or 4 ohms.

This is a major benefit of using a tube amp.

Agreed, with an 8x10 you will be fine, but with your 4x10 don't expect a 100 watt tube head to be heaps. It should have a lot more voulme than your current head however (when running at 8ohms). I would be tempted to get an old V4B over a V4BH. Just for the record, an SVT is 4 or 2 ohms only, and you...
