Re: AD30 Overdrive / Speaker Question

I looked at the first picture and thought 'how did an amp this new get THAT dirty...?' when I realised it's 14 years old already...

Re: 1971 Orange 8x10 power handling?

It's very hard to say - Eminence doesn't really have any records or specs for those older speakers (see here: http://www.eminence.com/identifying-an-old-or-custom-oem-eminence-speaker/) If I had to guess, my guess would be 30 watt speakers times eight for a 240 watt power handling. But that said, th...

Re: Help with ohm cabs compatibility

Brilliant analogies from Rlw59 there. I've posted many times here on impedances with valve / solid state amps. About impedance matching always being best with valve amps, but if mismatching low direction mismatches being safer for the amp, etc etc. Forget all that though, Billy should just sticky t...

Re: Nylon strings on a strat

No, I’m not asking a dumb question  This is cool, oPik optical pickups. https://youtu.be/mISvoHKMl0U It's interesting to me, but I don't think it's cool. There are so many good acoustics with nylon strings out there that to spend that much time to get a Strat to be nylon strung just seems poin...

Re: Solo artist name question?

You'll be joining the struggle that Ray Davies and David Bowie went through: having their names pronounced differently.

I would correct people when they get it wrong but just let go otherwise.

Or call your first album "Max Rossell, pronounced Ross-Hell"

They look really nice to me.
Interesting that Gibson made the smoothed in neck joint and belly cut.
Johnny requested those features... can't wait to try them.

Re: Are these the most beautiful Juniors you've ever seen?

Gibson quality control. Couldn't even get 'em the same colour  They look really nice. I'm sure it was Johnny A's choice but I'd have specified just a little more neck angle. Everything about them was JA's choice! ha ha ha... if you look closely, you'll see no little ledge where the neck joins ...

I like em! (Although I have no idea who Johnny A is  ) Solo guitarist, member of The Yardbirds, has had the second most successful signature Gibson guitar: http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Archtop/Gibson-Custom/Johnny-A-Signature.aspx Here's my JA: https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fb...

Re: Are these the most beautiful Juniors you've ever seen?

From Johnny: Gibson Custom Les Paul Jrs I had custom built for me. Inspired by my work with The Yardbirds, I wanted a "super" comfortable Jr., and with the help of Phillip Whorton and the artistry of Master builder Matthew Klein who worked with me on designing the "Johnny A." Model I am beyond blown...

Are these the most beautiful Juniors you've ever seen?

Gibson Custom Shop has made two special Les Paul Jr.'s for Johnny A. Back and front contours, and look at those neck joints! All handmade - hand sanded - no orbital sanders. One weighs in at 5 lb 10 oz, the other 5 lb 11 oz! Brazilian rosewood fingerboards, too. https://scontent.fbos1-2.fna.fbcdn.ne...

Re: Rocker 15 break in period?

My two cents: What kind of guitar is your friend using? Pedals, etc. in front of the amp? Have YOU played through it yet? (How to tactfully say this?) Just as the tone is in the fingers of great guitarists, sometimes the 'suck' is in the fingertips of others. Try his yourself and see how it sounds...
