Re: Best Small PA system? What do you use? What do you recom
So, we owned the JBL mpro stuff when it came out then the MRX stuff. One thing I noticed when we'd see other bands in clubs: small strained PAs sound BAD. The direct radiators that sound good were always in bunches, like 4 FOH speakers and 4 2x18 subs etc, even in 100 person clubs. They weren't nece...

Re: Good quality low db sensitivity speakers
I have a Celestion Heritage G12M greenback that is rated at 96db and handles a whopping 20 watts! I really like it in open or closed back configurations. It's not doped but it holds the low end together better than the standard G12M greenies I've had before. But I'm really itchin to try that Reignma...

Re: Marshall cab vs Orange cab comparison video
Yeah I wish they'd have grabbed a marshall with V30s to do the apples to apples thing. No doubt the orange cabs are solid as brick shithouses though. My Hiwatt would crush my 1960 Marshalls in a cage match.

Re: What's the right balance between raw energy and polish
Well, in that case I wouldn't consider overly compressed and badly EQed "polished". I consider it untastefully recorded and mastered. Unfortunately most of the rock and roll world including the "best producers" in the industry have no taste then. This is the current trend for sure and it is ruining...

Re: hear how the rocker 30 holds up to a ton of different amps
That was groovy. Only a couple sounds I didn't like. I'd put the Rocker in the top 3 no matter what the criteria. For straight up rock, yeah man, maybe #1. Considering its cost relative to some of the other amps there, that's quite impressive.

So where does Iggy and the Stooge's "TV Eye" fit in this spectrum. Cause that's where I'm going
If the mistakes are cool then it's just spice. If it's too polished then it's modern country.

Re: ronnie montrose
I dunno Paul. Maybe. I think if you dimed that puppy it's conceivable you could get that sort of grind (the live performance I linked to) with a lester straight in? Just a guess as I've not played one. But a dimed deluxe or bassman could go there I believe.

Re: ronnie montrose
So by solo album, are you referring to "Montrose"? Who can't love that album. Yeah I always thought it was a marshall but nope....

She made me have certain "feelings" . But yes I know what you mean...
Tribute bands sort of frighten me anyway, but if it has to be a tribute band, give me chicks....
Thank you and good night.

Re: Collaborating on tunes....
Sorry man, I've changed the tunes again....the first song now is just me and my 12 year old doing sleepwalk. You are probably wondering what the heck I was talking about.
I'll lay down a rhythm track and post it when I'm done. But, who wants to play bass????

Re: Saturday night jam: Gretsch dyna jet/Bluesbreaker/Echo
Very cool man! Did you replace the stock Dynas with the T Armonds? Do you have a comparison between the two that you could fill me in on? :D Thanks man, I really like that Gretsch, it's a 6128TCG with TV Jones and T-Armonds. Ha, yes the bluesbreaker is a 6L6 amp with Celestion Blues so it can spark...

Re: Saturday night jam: Gretsch dyna jet/Bluesbreaker/Echo
That sounds cool man. I dig it. Not bad for a 12 year old either. The guitar player sucks though. ;) Well, that's a given! :D Hey, BTW, have you been to a chicago club called Door to Door? Japan Nite is moving this year for some reason. Never heard of it. Are you sure it's not Double Door? Doh! Yes...
