Just letting everyone know that I sold my Orange AD30TCH and have scraped up enough to purchase a Bad Cat class A amp. I got so tired of trying to use pedals with the Orange....trying to deal with the annoying "white noise" from the second channel....and general disatisfaction of owning such an expe...

I just replaced all of the stock tubes in my AD30TC with Groove Tubes. I also changed the preamp tubes from 12AX7's to 7025's which really gave me a lot more bite in my tone. Orange encourages us to try different combinations to find the exact tone we're searching for.

I switched the 12AX7's in the preamp to 7025's from Groove Tubes. Brightened things right up and gave me more of an edge too. I have an AD30TC head, by the way.

I'm using a tubescreamer which seems to give me enough clean overdrive. I also changed the 12AX7 tubes to 7025's which brighten up and give an edge to the overall tone.

Hmmmm.....must be an isolated problem unique to your amp. I've owned my AD30TC since earlier this year and it's always worked great. Sorry to hear about your troubles. It can be very frustrating, I know.

Aspen Pittman, author of The Tube Amp book, recommends replacing the rectifier tube with "their" solid state version claiming just what you have mentioned. But think for a moment.....why did the guys at Orange not think of this, and other vintage & boutique amp builders as well? Hmmmmm....perhaps it...

I received my AD30TC earlier this year from a store in Portland, Oregon. They now boast that they are an official Orange dealer on the west coast, and in fact, do carry a lot of "new" Orange stuff. They have sent me the latest Orange catalog and are quite responsive to Orange questions, problems etc...

As a current owner of an AD30TC, I think you should definitely buy one...but then use your AB box to try some different combinations. I've used my Orange coupled with a Boogie MKIIC as well as my Marshall and Fender heads. If you could score a Bad Cat head and use that in a loop with your Orange hea...

I'm using a Marshall JCM 800 4X12 cab with Vintage 30 speakers made by Celestion. Although it's a heavy cabinet, it does have coasters and I really like having my Orange head at a height where I can tweak the knobs during the evening.

Hmmmmmm....I just found out the answer to my own question. By exchanging the 12AX7 tubes in the preamp for 7025 tubes, I get a brighter tone and a bit more gain. Thank you "self". (laughing)
