Hi,

the Orange Amp Field Guide has moved.
You can now find it at http://www.orangefg.com
If you're not familiar with the OFG: it contains pictures and a little bit of info on most older Orange amps.

To prevent the next question (" And what about the old amp?") Orange amps are PCB amps, but they are the good kind of PCB amps. This means that they mount the tubes on the chassis on not on the PCB. (That would be bad because shaking tubes can strain a pcb 'till something goes wrong.) Exceptions: 1....

Someone at www.plexipalace.com thought it was a poweramp for night clubs. So that would make it a kind of hifi power amp. Orange amps didn't have standby switches in the early stages. Do you happen to have a picture of the front? I'm really curious :-) G. http://www.geocities.com/geertjacobs/orange_...

I must say I've never seen this kind of Orange Slave. Only the bass amps use KT88s (6550s) as far as I know. Usually the slave amps have EL34s. So maybe this is some kind of a bass slave amp. The bass amps are rated 200Watts, so most likely this amp has 200 Watts too. A picture of the face plate and...

I'm afraid there's not much info around. IIRC there was someone on the http://www.plexipalace.com Orange forum that also had an Overdrive Series Two. If you like, you could help me correct the info on the Unofficial Orange page on Overdrive Series Two. Geert http://www.geocities.com/geertjacobs/oran...

The voltage selector is not meant as a power brake. What is possible is when you have a 230V mains you can choose to have the selector at 220V mains or a 240V mains. This might have some effect in sound, but not much I think. However if you change the voltage setting, you need to rebias your output ...

I think you'll have more chance to find a Marshall style spice model, which might do pretty well for a Spice simulation. There are some spice-links at http://www.duncanamps.com You can always ask around at the guitaramp forum on http://www.ampage.org , there are a lot of competent people out there. ...

Just try to find caps with same capacity, same or better voltage and same size. If you need good brands, maybe www.ampage.org or www.plexipalace.com (orange forum) can help. Original schematics of Overdrives aren't available AFAIK but browse the link below for a preliminary version. (should be reaso...

I've listed some replacement transformer manufacturers at http://www.geocities.com/geertjacobs/orange_mods.htm Most of them were mentioned in a thread at www.ampage.org . Maybe the thread is still there (they erase there threads after some time). G. http://www.geocities.com/geertjacobs/orange_page.htm
