Re: Amp ISO question

And I feel kinda silly asking this question, but is this was the "thru" jack on a passive DI is for? I've only ever used DIs to turn line level into XLR so...

Re: Amp ISO question

Congrats on the new building. NBD thread? "We don't believe it unless we see picks" still apply? :D +1 Jondog Running the guitar cable with a quality line buffer will preserve the signal pretty good. Many people have pedalboards so large that you might as well have the guitar cable going to a diffe...

Re: Amp ISO question

Is it really going to sound better through the PA than having the amps a little quieter than you'd like on-stage with you? If I am honest, it sounds like a nightmare and probably no-one will notice any tone-loss you might experience from not cranking the amp. Unless your PA is amazing, it might eve...

Amp ISO question

So me and my kin have been blessed with a new church building, and doubly super duper blessed to have a room offstage where we can isolate and mic our amps and really crank them. Now I have my AD30 which I can run head on stage, a speaker cable for that 40 feet or so offstage, and then into my cab i...

Re: AD30HTC came in today...what am i missing?

I bought mine used and there were 12ay7's in the preamp, so the amp was extremely dark and mellow. Anything but harsh and brittle. Switched to Sovtek 12ax7s and the amp is beefy and gnarly.

Def a tubes problem.

[OT] Home theater and A/V people, questions!

Very OT, but I trust you guys. 8) 1. Banana plugs. Open screw type? Closed screw type? Huh? Which do I need? 2. With banana plugs, they work with any old speaker wire I'm assuming? Just twist or wire them on or whatever? 3. Say I have some speakers with the little pinchers on the back for the speake...

OT: Home audio people. Frugal, cheap, home audio people.

OK, so I've been hearing a lot about how forking over a hundred bucks, or even 50 for an hdmi cable is a waste of cash. That Monster is a ripoff, and that diminishing gains render expensive cables a goofy loss. Let's just assume this is true. How much should I spend then? What cables should I get fo...

Re: what is a good guitar pick for playing metal?

Come on you guys, take this question seriously. He has a legitimate question and it deserves a direct, serious answer. For metal specifically, you'll need a pick that fits comfortably in your hand. Try one shaped like a pentagram, first and foremost. It should be sharp and hideous, fearsome in geome...

I have a thousand bucks. Buy me an amp!

Alright, here's my rules:

1. Combo. 1x12 or 2x12, preferably.
2. Tube (what else?)
3. Doesn't need to shred. Needs to rock. Clean that plays nice with pedals acceptable.
4. I'm familiar with Orange, let's stick to non-citrus brands.
5. Not needed, but works with a Les Paul a plus.

Virtually every time I turn on my AD30TC it sounds better than I remember. I absolutely love it.

Re: Where do you download music?

When I buy a disc or get it off itunes, I always download an archival quality copy, say 320k. I usually go to torrentz.com and use a client like Vuze.
