My son (24) likes music and going to gigs, but doesn't show any interest in playing My daughter (22) likes music and going to gigs, dabbles in a few instruments but her favourite being drums My younger daughter (11)...

Re: OT: A reality check on an ebay auction, if you would please.

Ebay is a great way to get your stuff sold. The only snag is a vast majority of emails you get are from idiots who it seems cant read... You are better off not dealing with this numpty and cancelling his bid. Also many of the high value items I've sold the bidding happens in the last few minutes, so...

Re: Anyone ever put a 2-way switch on a Les Paul?

Ever had a go on a gibson nighthawk? I think epiphone are doing a re-run at the moment, might be right up your street... Without looking I can be almost sure they don't make lefties! ;) I'm gonna stick in a low profile SPDT in place of the 3-way I reckon, probably the simplest solution! oops, I don...

Re: Very tempted by this...

worth it just for the photo shoots :D

I had some issues with feed back and a 335 alike. I found you sort of get used to it, for example I'd keep the neck pickup turned right down (I mostly used the bridge) then as soon as I stopped playing I'd switch pickups (like a kill switch), worked for me :D

Re: Anyone ever put a 2-way switch on a Les Paul?

how about re-positioning the switch? The obvious place might be inbetween the volumes/tones, should be easy to wire too, if you use a mini toggle no need to drill a big hole either. I've seen LPs with this as a coil tap or out of phase, I don't see why not for the pickups. Ever had a go on a gibson ...

Re: Selling as a job lot?

1) I reckon you'd be better doing it separately, but say something like check out my other items in each of the listings - I think you'd get more money in total too. 2) If not, then call it something like "quality rock electric guitar and amp package" - try and avoid words like 'starter' as it sound...

I did check out the venue but didn't think this would be a problem... :(

Re: noise limiter power trip gizmo at venues... grrr...

I think it would be a point of pride for drummers to see how many times they could cut out the power. So, in a way these things actually get the exact opposite of what they were designed for. Yup - particularly as the drums aren't plugged in so carry on playing.... I think it had happened before, b...

Green... Ambre... You're off! :D
That's the jobbie, you find yourself playing with one eye on it as it flashes into the red again, again, again... there goes the power!

They first appeared a few years ago - but we usually don't have a problem with them.

Re: noise limiter power trip gizmo at venues... grrr...

I had a chat with the drummer. He had loaded in before I got there, and the club manager had made some comment to the effect of "oh no, not drums!..." When the drummer asked me what to do, I just said carry on like normal - which we did - I guess we know not to play there again. I did bring some ext...

noise limiter power trip gizmo at venues... grrr...

Did first gig yesterday for about a year (after illness), which went really well, apart from the venue had a noise monitor that when it reaches a certain point trips the power off... :( We managed to trip it 3 times in one song! We've never had a problem with these before as we're not a particularly...

Re: Best low wattage head

Out of the amps I have owned here's my take: Fender pro junior - I preferred the 'full on' tone although I ended up selling this as I felt it was too loud for 'at home' - sounded better in my view volume past 12 o'clock. Nice cleans and you could run pedals infront. On the plus side loud enough for ...

Re: Nickel plated vs. Pure nickel...

I've used various brands recently (ernie balls, d'addario, gibson brite wires, fender bullets and gibson vintage reissue strings) The only pure nickel ones I've used are the gibson vintage reissue (on my les paul). Personally I like 'em... but I have to say the difference in tone is very subtle (to ...
