Considering building my own true-bypass loop switcher

I am still in the process of trying to get a pedalboard fleshed out. At this point, I think I have enough saved to purchase the huge power supply I'm going to need for the main front-of-amp board. I don't even have a board yet, I might do some woodworking and make one, not sure yet. But I'm also goi...

Re: New old pedals!

Got an email about these pedals from Orange when they launched. I was slightly intrigued by the phaser pedal. It has an interesting harmonic thing going on that kinda reminds me of my old Morley phaser from the 70's (which is dead at the moment). I cracked it open once and saw that it has a little i...

Re: Tubes !!

No source, but yeah. Since the war started sanctions have limited the tube supply. Yeah, it's easy to forget that about 1/3rd of the worlds supply of tubes (because there's only about THREE factories that make them anymore) comes from the one place where no one's willing to buy stuff from anymore. ...

Your favorite pedals

I LIKE PEDALS. Didn't used to. Used to be a rack man. Only pedal I wanted was a wah... and whatever controlled the crap in the rack. But then I hocked the rack stuff and joined the cult by purchasing an Orange Rockerverb 100 mk3 head. Made in Britain, baby. Which is the same place where they make th...

Re: Tap tap tap... this thing on?

That's a sweet geetar! It'll be sweeter when I finally get it! Musicians Friend claims to not hit your credit card until it ships but they charged me and no shipping info.... Hopefully you did get it. It looks really cool, but I think I tried out a Gretsch acoustic a while back and wasn't liking th...

Re: Rockerverb 50 mk iii FX Send Level

Yeah, it should be fine (if it's factory new with stock tubes). The Boss EQ200 ($275 currently) might be overkill and maybe not your best option. Like you mentioned about +7 db max input, that's because it doesn't appear to have an input volume. Whereas the MXR 10 band ($150) has an input and output...

Re: thunderverb 50 doom sludge recording --behringer sf300, Torpedo Captor X Electric Wizard style

Pretty decent guitar sound. I've owned a Rockerverb 100 mk3 for a few years now, and I STILL haven't decided whether the Thunderverbs or the Rockerverb 3's have the best dirty sound. I was down at Big House Guitars in Atlanta the other weekend and they had a handwired Orange Custom Shop 50. I was fi...

Re: New! Orange guitar designed by Ade!

Strings over the backside of the stop bar is kinda odd though, I never do that myself. I guess with the spacing it's maybe necessary. On my Les Paul I run my stopbar up higher and string it normal. Is there any particular reason to keep the stopbar slammed low and the strings over the top? I have s...

I like it. Slap some big ole soapbars on her and she'd be a twanger I'd consider for my next'n. Strings over the backside of the stop bar is kinda odd though, I never do that myself. Re: Fuzz roundup

JHS Cheese Ball, a direct clone of the discontinued Lovetone Big Cheese from the 90’s. I’ve been interested in the Lovetone Big Cheese sound for some time and the originals are crazy expensive. I remember seeing those a couple of times. I hadn't seen any in a long time, got curious and googled... H...

Re: LETS SEE SOME PEDALBOARDS!!!

Don't have a board yet. Pedals go wherever the hell I have room for them. Lotta dust. Need to dust. I'm a procrastorbater, so... maybe next week,... probably not. http://focalor.tastyspleen.net/forumpics/orange2.jpg I only hook the wah up when I wanna use it. For the most part, the top-of-amp pedals...

Re: The Orange Sound

As much as I want to love my OR15 I don't. Single channel, so I have to rely on a pedal to get a solo sound and I'm just not happy with it yet. I tried one out in stores a couple times and I didn't like it either. Even through an Orange 4x12 v30 cab, no matter where I set the eq, it always sounded ...

Re: Delay Roundup

I don't use a lot of delay currently. I mostly like reverb. And sure you can stack reverb and delay together, plenty of people do, but I kinda prefer to use only one or the other at any time so it stands out better. Used together, it starts to kinda "blur" the sound a little too much for my tastes. ...
