Re: Different Technique With Orange Amps?
this is a very interesting thread. I have had my own sort of "revelation" playing Orange amps. First, they do not forgive sloppy playing with ghost notes. More importantly, I observed that playing some open chords, a D in particular always sounded out of tune if letting it ring. Same chord, same gui...

Re: Recording an Orange Amp
Thanks to all of you for your inputs....Like everything else in this business, there are always many answers LOL I did pick up a used Redbox 5.....it does the job for what I need. I am looking for something to capture the guitar amp during band practices so that we can listen back to the recordings ...

Re: Recording an Orange Amp
I've heard good things about the Hughes and Kettner Red Box https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RedBox5--hughes-and-kettner-red-box-5-di-and-speaker-simulator thanks. so if i understand correctly, this unit basically is simply tapping into the signal the amp head is sending to the cab? I guess ...

Recording an Orange Amp
Hello can anyone suggest a way to record an orange amp (RV50) without having to use a mic? I would like to record in a live setting and looking for way to go straight into the board via an electronic means vs a mic which will have other stuff captured. Anyone have any suggestions, especially if you ...

Nice! Congrats. What did you end up getting? Mk I, II, or III? Very very cool amp for sure! Got a brand spanking new MK III. Absolutely stunning clean channel and a very nice on board reverb. Not sure yet about the stepped controls but i am sure i will adapt to them. Throw a treble booster in front...

Re: RV50 Head - Channel switching
Im hoping it's as simple as that..... fingers crossed! On my RV50, it will only switch with the footswitch when on the clean channel (or is it the dirty channel?), and it will not footswitch when set on the other. Otherwise, buying it new, you have a warranty and will need to activate it. The switc...

RV50 Head - Channel switching
Hi, Just bought a brand new RV50 head MKIII last night. Bought it for 2 reasons 1) I like the tone better the TV50 and 2) I was tired of always buying used gear that often comes with hidden problems. The second reason is the real reason.... Powered it up, sounds great. But my single button, Orange-m...

Re: Rverb 50 vs Tverb 50 - I know, a perennial question
Thanks everyone for your insights. I appreciate it ! I think I will roll the dice and order the Rockerverb MKIII. That's what they are selling so its not like I can order a MKII. I kind of like that it has the 25w mode that might make it more friendly practising at home with the attenuator. I find t...

Rverb 50 vs Tverb 50 - I know, a perennial question
Hello I know this is a recurring question, but I need to figure this out. I own a Thunderverb 50 head driving a PPC212 cab. I like it a lot. Having said that I have noticed that I sometimes get lost in the mix. Tried different settings on gain, tone etc. I have been curious about the sound differenc...

Re: Question on THD Hot plate - Impedence
Did try to email THD......no answer. What a badly designed product, making 3 different versions instead of installing a switch. I will look into the Jet City or in meantime use my 8 ohm Blackstar cab with the v30s. Ironically, on line in the instruction manual, it seems there could be a mismatch as ...

Question on THD Hot plate - Impedence
I own a THD Hot Plate, 8 ohms. I am not clear on whether I can use this between a rocker 30 and PPC 212. My understanding from the THD owner's manual is that I can connect the rocker's 8 ohm output to the Hot Plate input and then connect the Hot Plate output to the 16 ohm PPC212 cab Anyone out there...

Re: Which Orange Amp is the sweet spot?
I am not a super knowledgeable person on valves, how they work, why they sound different etc. But maybe a dumb question is....on the TV 50, would a different type of power tube remove some of that compressed-like sound or is this an inherent part of the amp design and not related to the tubes?

Re: Which Orange Amp is the sweet spot?
I did in fact buy an attenuator, the THD Hotplate. It does attenuate, but it loses some high end on the more serious attenuation. I once owned the Rivera attenuator which cost a fortune and it did the same on my Marshall. I guess that's why they include high frequency boost functions on these attenu...
