I've learned a lot here. Thanks Billy and all those who've shared their knowledge.

Re: Micro terror + crush 35dx
You can use the 35dx as a speaker cab, but you can't plug into any of the jacks on the 35dx.
You need to disconnect the 2 wires from the speaker, and add a jack to connect the Micro Terror directly to the speaker. Only have one amp or the other amp connected to the speaker at any one time.

Re: Micro Dark - Volume fault?
There's a switch contact in one of the loop jacks. Normally it's closed - the preamp signal flows through it to the power amp. Sticking a plug into the jack opens the contact, diverting the signal thru the loop. If the contact oxidizes or gets sticky, it acts as you've described. Get some contact cl...

Re: Micro Terror and cabs
Sidepoint: Orange's online manual for the Micro says 4 ohms is still ok. At full output the amp may get warm enough to activate the thermal cutoff -- first stuttering on/off/on, then shut off entirely until it cools down. But no damage. The early ones were labeled 4 ohm minimum. They didn't redesign...

Re: Channel switching stopped working
Does the panel switch work? If not, a chip or a relay or a solder joint in the switching circuit has probably gone bad. Tech time. If the panel switch works, then it's something with the jack. There's a contact in the jack that overrides the panel switch -- if it gets dirty/oxidized the amp doesn't ...

Re: Dark Terror suddenly gone silent ...
Tubes have lots of different failure modes. They can just wear out -- get duller sounding, breakup earlier. Internal connections can break -- still light up but no sound. They can lose vacuum, turn white inside, and stop working. The heater filament can physically sag, and then bump up against thing...

Re: Swap 12AT7 for 5751
12AT7 is the fx loop driver/recovery tube. AT7s are used because they can comfortably drive and recover a wide range of impedances. (Most pedals have high impedance inputs and low impedance outputs, but some have low inputs and high outputs.) You can certainly use a different type as a temporary em...

Re: Multi-Micro Setup
BTW, multi-amp setups sound totally awesome. And they offer so many sonic options. Endless options if you throw some effects into the setup. For live use, I personally can't handle elaborate amp rigs. Too much other stuff going on. But amazing at-home soundscapes. But you're far better off running 2...

Re: Multi-Micro Setup
It's also possible that the jacks Orange uses have the contacts and extra terminals that would allow automatic mono/stereo switching. I don't know -- I've never owned an Orange cab. But amp input jacks typically have those to allow shorting with no plug inserted (to prevent hissing/noise), and many ...

Re: Multi-Micro Setup
Speaker connections confuse most people. ----------------- There are mono/stereo cabs with switching jacks. You plug one cable in, it's mono driving both speakers from the same amp. Or connect two amps, and the jacks automatically turn it into a stereo cab with each amp connected to its own single s...

Re: Multi-Micro Setup
The jacks on the cab are connected to each other. The Micros have a single output jack, but if you want to use two cabs you can run a cable from the amp to one of the cab's jacks, then run another cable from the cab's second jack to the other cab. Plugging two amps in would connect the amps to each ...

Re: Orange pedal baby
The product manual has an exclamation point at the end of the warning to not run it below 8 ohms. And as a general rule, with solid state, higher is usually ok but never go below the minimum rated impedance. Tube amps need a transformer between the tubes and the speakers. That's sort of a buffer, so...

Re: Is my cab broken?
Back to your specific cab, the factory wires the jacks in parallel. You should be able to plug the amp into either one (you can use the second jack to parallel daisy-chain a second cab, if you have some situation where that's more convenient than running 2 cables from the amp). Most likely a solder ...

Re: Is my cab broken?
Geeze. Please don't take this personally. Most people just stick a cable into a cab to see what happens, but it's a very risky thing to do. Please think of this as a public service announcement. A dead jack is either a short circuit (bad) or an open circuit (very very bad). Amps are pretty rugged an...

Re: 4x12 cab wiring
Four 16Ω speakers have to be wired series/parallel or parallel/series for the cab to be 16Ω total. Four 4Ω speakers all in series would be 16Ω total, but that wiring is rare. (If any speaker or connection fails, all the speakers go silent.) -------------------------- Your wiring is two series pairs,...
