Re: AD30TCH Clone
So I picked up a Fender Blues JR for cheap and have been using the chassis, PT, and cab as the basis for building a little AD15R with the CH1 from the AD30. In regards to adding reverb to the circuit of an AD15, I have a cheaper Fender 22K primary reverb transformer, and I able to substitute the 10K...

Re: AD30TCH Clone
I would agree with all points mentioned, it is mostly for experience and hobby, especially considering I find nothing wrong in general with the amp. I do just want to be able to tweak it for adding things like pentode and triode modes, half power mode, maybe a high/low input, single master volume, a...

AD30TCH Clone
There are heaps of Fender or Marshall clones, but has anyone thought of cloning a AD30TC in PTP with different cap materials?

Re: AD30 Plate Voltage
What about dropping the B+ voltage by using a 5Y3 rectifier?

Re: AD30 Plate Voltage
Though it doesn't seem worth it in terms of volume and complication, accruing knowledge for knowledge sake, would it be possible to to reduce the output wattage like the Tiny Terrors do? How would that work?

Re: AD30 Plate Voltage
After reading the comments on the OT, and doing more research on the tubes, 15W on an EL84 is the max power potential than can be achieved before failure, with voltage and current ratings inverse to accomplish the desired results, as long as the equation does not exceed 15W per tube. Which led me to...

Re: AD30 Plate Voltage
Thanks, I really appreciate the information!
I have an older AD30, I got it around 02 or 03, are there better PT and OT that people have found over the years?
I just generally love learning about and using the amp and it's components more and more.

Re: AD30 Plate Voltage
Thanks Jon, and I'm guessing it's 335V but like you said, the current would be lower to compensate. After I posted I looked up the data sheets for the 6V6-GT I have in my Deluxe Reverb and for 70% dissipation at 425V plate, the current is 19mA-ish, when the tube is rated for 35mA @ 315V (92mA @ 285V...

AD30 Plate Voltage
Hey Folks,
I fell down the rabbit hole of looking at tube specs and noticed that two EL84 in push pull, like the AD30, have a max plate voltage of 300V. What's the plate voltage of the AD30?
Thanks

G'Day
Does anyone know the frequency sweep ranges for the EQ section of the AD30?

Standby bypass
Howdy! With the AD30 I'm wondering how critical the standby switch is, as it has a valve rectifier which theoretically acts to slow the heat and power flow to the rest of the tubes on startup. Some guys say the standby is actually dangerous as it can bypass the fuse. Is this the case with AD30? Does...

Re: Phase inverter
I've got a VT1000, while not the best value for money, it has helped with trouble shooting, matching tubes to determine what is best for V1 or other important slots.
I'm sure over a decade or so it might pay for itself

Re: Phase inverter
Sorry to bump an old thread but I've been experimenting with 12AT7s, 5751s, and 12AX7s in my AD30. With more digging I found that 12AT7s draw more current, and when in V1 I heard what sounded like the the power transformer working harder, a definite hum that disappeared when using a 5751 or 12AX7. W...
