Re: Recording an Orange Amp

I use a Universal Audio OX. Top notch cab, mic, room, effects options. Doubles as an attenuator. SPDIF and analog outs.

Re: Rockerverb Alternative?

Micro Terror, Micro Dark, Tiny Terror, Dark Terror, Jim Root #4 Terror, Rocker Terror, Dual Terror, OR15... am I missing any? LOL, I should have known..... Ideally though, it would have a clean channel and fx loop. Looks like the Brent Hinds or Dual Terror has those features. Ideally, would like to...

Rockerverb Alternative?

In light of my Rockerverb that failed at a gig last week (https://forum.orangeamps.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=58888) I am now looking for backups in case this happens again. I'll bring along the necessary tools and parts now, but I don't want to drag another monster head with me to every show. What kin...

Re: Rockerverb 50 MKIII Failed

The thing is, it did work when it left the factory. That's why valves usually only carry a 3 months warranty, just like light bulbs, they can die anytime. There's no way to screen a valve for early death sadly. Weak valves can be weeded out, but that's all testing valves can achieve. As you are fin...

Use what works......
I get this. However, the same statement, "use what works", can and should be made to Orange. I'm disappointed, and now I will always have to bring a backup. It might be time to just go digital for live, and use amps in the studio.

Re: Rockerverb 50 MKIII Failed

I've pretty much used tube amps since the 70's and have never had this happen. At this price point, the RV is supposed to be pro caliber. I just don't understand the manufacturer putting in cheap tubes. What are the best possible tubes that I can put in this amp right now, that won't totally alter i...

Re: Rockerverb 50 MKIII Failed

Ended up playing through a very disappointing bass amp..... Yeah, that's the thing, playing something you're not used to. Love my Marshall, but it has several disadvantages. The Marshall doesn't have a loop or clean channel. My Fractal FX8 was all set for the RV and 4CM. I had to patch that to fake...

Glad it was an easy fix. Would you mind telling us what markings were on that tube?
The only marking is PM 12AT7

Re: Rockerverb 50 MKIII Failed

Well, luckily it turned out to be the FX Loop 12AT7. Replaced it with a reliable very old and recently tested Mullard and all is good. Unbelievable that this happened on a two year old tube and unexpected on a top of the line amp. It is what it is I guess.

Re: Rockerverb 50 MKIII Failed

OK, so in a quiet environment, I can tap the input cable tip and get a very faint buzz. I tap the output valves and get a noise (left one is a little louder than the other). I saw the Phase Inverter was not pushed down all the way, I reseated it. Still nothing. Tapping the output valves and getting ...

Rockerverb 50 MKIII Failed

Had a big gig last night, setup the RV50, power on but nothing, nada, dead. Luckily, the venue was 5 minutes from home and I got my 40-year old Marshall 2204 and 4x12 cab out of retirement to save me. The RV is only two years old and has been to a gig once. It worked at rehearsal Monday, dead on Fri...

Re: writing and playing again - how do I use my Rockerverb50 now?!

As far as sucking some tone, using the attenuator, most probably will, and there’s perceived differences at lower volumes for all kinds of reasons. But check out the Pete Thorn video on the rockcrusher recording device. He gives a great demo of the unit.

Re: writing and playing again - how do I use my Rockerverb50 now?!

I have a RV 50 and I just picked up a Rivera Rockcrusher Recording - attenuator/load box with an all analog speaker sim EQ. A bit pricey though. I tried software and other IR based, and personally I don't like the harsh sounds. So far this Rockcrusher really sounds great for recording and attenuation.

Re: Anyone Here Using A Strat & Orange Amp?

I have a CS Strat with Texas Specials and a CS 69 bridge pickup.

IMO, the strat plays very weak with the Rockerverb MKIII on the dirt channel. A pickup booster on it sounds a bit better. Its a little disappointing. I have not been able to quite figure out a good setting for the combination yet.
