Re: Crush Pro 120 head

Can't blame the site of manufacturing for this one. The head itself has always been called "Crush Pro 120." The original mass run had the label "CR120". There are some variants I've seen (maybe the very first review units?) with "CR120H". Then Orange decided at some point (about a year after initial...

Re: Orange CR120H issue

I don't have an answer to this, but I have had this happen on a handful of occasions with my CR120H as well. I tried the usual things (plugging direct into amp with different known "good" cables to eliminate the possibility it was something in the chain in front of the amp; trying different guitars ...

Re: Crush 35RT very low output unless I'm using the effects loop

I have a CR 120H but the opposite problem: using the loop (even with a patch cable, and I've used several known good ones to test) introduces a "blanket over the amp" effect. Does anyone have a schematic for the CP series that shows how the loop is configured, what if anything it "goes around," etc....

Exact same amp. Different words on the faceplate. Unless the extra letters change the tone, identical. ;)

Re: Crush Pro users, what clean boosts you running?

And just remembered this (which may or may not help, if you're looking for a more saturated high-gain sludge sound): in his review of the CR120, Ryan Bruce ran it with a boost (a Deadhorse, I think?) and it sounded amazing--one of the reasons I bought the amp--and in a recent Orange promo video with...

Re: Crush Pro users, what clean boosts you running?

Well, THAT's a frustrating half-answer. Glad you came back to report, though! Maybe someone else here can chime in on why boosting (clean or otherwise) a CR120H (or any other SS amp) isn't a good idea? (From a technical "you risk frying your amp or opening a portal to an alternate dimension" perspec...

Re: Crush Pro 120 Head buzz

Been away a while; sorry. Short story: that's not at all normal. I set all my levels to match what I could see of yours, and apart from the usual high volume/high gain hiss, absolutely nothing like the buzz you have there. Now hearing it, I keep coming back to the same suspects: 1) A ground fault so...

Re: Crush Pro 120 Head buzz

I'm pretty happy with the Noise Killer. It's definitely not as supple as the NS-2: its single knob has a lot of looseness and play, with anything before noon being fairly imperceptible and anything above noon clamping down harder and harder with each millimeter you turn it; that its action isn't par...

Re: Crush Pro users, what clean boosts you running?

I'm experimenting with a very not-clean boost (Boneshaker) to beef and fuzz up the dirt channel a bit, and I've been getting some really good (and also some really poor) results. I'm posting this not as a boost recommendation for you, but to second your question about hitting this particular amp too...

Re: Crush Pro 120 Head buzz

Is there any way you can post a recording of the buzz (just the buzz), with your amp set at the gig levels you're talking about, as you turn your guitar volume up and down? I'd be interested to see if I can replicate it with the same levels (and different guitar) on my end. Even just hearing the spe...

Re: Crush Pro 120 Head buzz

I'm sorry that the MicroHD solution didn't work! I was so sure it'd help; hopefully you can return it. And with your earlier note that your friend's LP had the same outcome (so not your guitar's pickups or wiring gone wonky), and presuming that you've done the easy things like 1) trying different ca...

Re: Crush Pro 120 Head buzz

What you're describing sounds like a venue issue, not a CR120 issue; it'd be exceptionally bad luck to get two faulty units in a row, and while there's definitely *some* hiss and noise as you crank the amp (either MV or gain), that's just part of the deal with any high-volume or high-gain scenario. ...

Re: What OD pedal for my CR120H

I simply put a Boss GE-7 EQ in the loop, and with a few minor cuts and boosts to fatten things up was able to get a "Leviathan" tone quite nicely out of my CR-120H.
