Re: Is there a way of advertising amps for sale here?

The short answer is, no. This is a manufacturer's website and it is their wishes that no buying & selling goes on here. In the old days I would have edited out the info in your post but... that said, hardly anyone ever visits here anymore and you would be better off on the vintage Orange Facebook g...

Re: New! Orange guitar designed by Ade!

Is the body flat (like a tele, vs arched like a Les Paul)? Those pickups look quite thick on a thin body so maybe you have to have the neck set quite high, thus the bridge and dropping the strings into the stop tail might make them too low??? A few people swear by that method although I tried it a w...

Is there a way of advertising amps for sale here?

My amp buying got out of hand! I have a '69 ORST to sell, and its clone (I've still got a tweaked clone of it and a 100 that I'm keeping). Also a '73 OR120 (I'm keeping a pix only OR120 and my Matamp GT120). It seems sensible to post them here first as this is where the real Orange aficionados hang ...

Yes I interpreted the R as reverb but I have never seen one in the flesh or a schematic.

Re: ~1972 Orange OR-80

Sorry for late reply, yes there is a star ground system on these for the power supply, one of which includes the electrostatic screen from the PT.

Re: Old beast after tidy up (1969 ORST)

Sorry to be so slow Not been here for a while as the vintage orange discussion has been a bit slow and as you will see I was seemingly posting to myself on some threads. This is the same amp. I bought it from the gentleman that posted the pics originally. I restored it to full working order and it i...

Re: Deluxe Electric Mistress v5 compatible power supply

I have had one of those EH pedals for years. I had thought about modding it for some more versatility too (there are mod sites out there) but having looked inside I decided that if things did not go as planned I would end up with a dead metal box. I too am old school with pedals and typically like t...

Re: Which Celestion Heritage G12H in a PPC212?

Personally speaking I would go for the mix. You will find some boutique amp/builders go further and mix an H and an M in the same cab but I have not done this myself as they have quite different sensitivities (100dB and 96dB respectively). You could also consider the Creambacks, if I were considerin...

Re: OR-80 Overdrive vs OR-120 tone and volume differences?

Can't say I'm an expert in electrolytic capacitor brands, but they don't look that new and they should probably be replaced after 25 years. Someone else may have a better idea, seems like that company is still in business, but I couldn't find that they still make electrolytic caps. The amp will sti...

Re: Which Celestion Heritage G12H in a PPC212?

The Anniversaries have their devotees but my experience was not to my taste. I had a G12H30 55Hz quad in a Marshall TV cab and they took a long time to break in (to put this into perspective I have two 70s Orange 4x12s and three Marshall 4x12s. Two cabs have the Hs with T1217 (75Hz speakers) one has...

Re: OR-80 Overdrive vs OR-120 tone and volume differences?

Looking at your amp it looks pretty clean, the wiring has been nudged around a little, can't tell why. The PI output couplers on these are normally 0.068uF, there are two pairs two for the cathode side and two for the anode side from the PI either side of the MV dual 1M pot. On yours the caps closes...

Re: OR-80 Overdrive vs OR-120 tone and volume differences?

Please post some internal pictures (Hi res if possible) of your amp.
Pay attention to the board and the controls (ie pots and FAC switch).
It may have been messed with and we can point you in right direction of getting the original tone you seek.

Re: OR-80 Overdrive vs OR-120 tone and volume differences?

The circuits of post 73 OR120s and the 80 overdrives are not that different, the MV in the circuit is not the purest type and will always give a little grit and distortion. Personally I would also advise your friend not to pull output tubes on a healthy OR120 (the volume drop is minimal, the cab opt...
