Whew, false alarm, I thought I had messed up the amp, it was something simple, a partially unplugged cable in one of the effects was causing a whistling noise.
Thanks for the ohm clarification

Re: Question about cabs/ohms
I hope I didn't screw up the amp, it is a new RV50MKIII, I just started a few days ago running it off an on in this config at low volumes, today there was a very faint high pitch drone, like a preamp tube on it's way. I honestly thought that at low volumes this type of amp was ok with a one step mis...

Re: Question about cabs/ohms
Thanks, that is what I suspected, I really was hoping to use both of these 2x12 cabs. I suppose there is no way to rewire them so they would work.
I'll just move all the speakers into a 4x12 cab I guess, thanks

Question about cabs/ohms
Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question, I have two 8 ohm cabs, is it safe to run both of them out of the two 8ohm taps on the Rockerverb MKIII?
I think ideally I should be exiting two 4ohm cabs in this situation. Will I screw up the amp running two 8ohm cabs?
thanks for any help you can provide!

Re: Which is your favourite Orange amp?
Well not really because I have to have a loop, which the rocker 30 doesn't have. I thought the rocker30 had a much different sound to it than the OR15 anyway ,that's what I remember from my research at the time I bought it. I like the OR15 preamp distortion sound better than any orange I've owned, i...

Re: New TH30: Seeking Pickup and Tube Recommendations
I am curious what you are using for OD or EQ pedal. I have found that my Orange amps, more so than with other amps, I need a clean boost up front and an EQ in the loop to brighten and tighten the sound. I honestly don't think I would be able to use Orange amps at all without this certain combination...

Re: New TH30: Seeking Pickup and Tube Recommendations
I have been playing my other guitars through the TH30 more lately and definitely see what you mean about the fuzz with most pickups. When I use Dimarzio tone zone or Norton or PAF Pro through the TH30 it is pretty dang fuzzy. The 36th anniversary are a completely different story though...I'm sure Se...

Re: Modded my OR15
Cool, I can hear a pretty big difference just in the iPhone clip. I could see where the root mod would work better for aggressive musics, which is right up my alley, I would like to have this done to my Rockerverb!

An OR15 with two EL34s! If that existed it would be my favorite

Re: New TH30: Seeking Pickup and Tube Recommendations
Wow muddy/fuzz have not been my experience at all with my TH30 head, JJ tubes. It seems a little more 'tight and defined' than any other Orange I have and have owned, rockerverbs, OR15s etc. The best results I have had for articulation and clarity are the DImarzio 36th anniversary, almost a single c...

Re: Rockerverb 50. Is this normal?
MKIII nice! I have several MKIIIs, without an OD or boost pedal I think they really don't start juicing up nice till 1 o'clock or so, I think yours is working fine.

Re: My Rocker 30 seems overly bright. Help with diagnosis.
That's is mind blowing, that the treb knob is all the way down and its too bright. Every Orange amp I have owned I have to put the Treb knob almost all the way up and boost brightness with an EQ in the loop to add enough edge to the brightness.

Glad you liked it, funny thing, someone told me about it on this forum a couple of weeks before I told you, so I was fairly new to it also.

Re: I have a TH30 crisis - advice needed!
I run a Orange Two Stroke EQ/Boost in the loop which gives all the EQ one could ask for. I have also used MXR 6band, but two stroke is approximately one billion times better for Orange tone
