Re: What amp(s) do you own that aren't Orange?
This is a great thread. I vote for a revival, after seeing all your new sweet gear over the years. Non Orange: Marshall Jubilee 2558 212 Combo (for my modded, mid 80's EVH tones) Hi-Tone HT100 (DR103 clone for my infinite headroom SRV clean amp) Had: Vox AC4 Vox AC15C1 Vox AC30C2 Vox AD120VTX Mesa B...

Mains fuse for OTR?
Hey guys. Getting an OTR120 from Europe and, just so I can play it the instant I get it, any of you know what length 5a fuse do these amps take? 20mm or 30mm?
Much appreciated!

Size of fuse for Orange OTR?
Hey gang. Gearing up for what could very well be my final Orange. Just stoked on my beat up OTR coming in from Germany! I'll be sure to post some soundcloud clips comparing the OTR with both the AD140 LEAD and OR100 and running the lot through a few different cabs. What a fun day that's going to be....

Re: Does the AD50 owe anything to Marshall?
Interestingly enough, my tech recently did some work on a couple Orange custom jobs from Adrian Emsley which were essentially 50 watt Marshall Plexis with his PPIMV he seems to like. We a/b'd and jammed with them a couple hours. They sounded like more punchy, aggressive, and less smooth Marshalls, b...

NAD Imminent!
Long story short, for the last few months, I've been hankering for some old school orange after using a mate's OR80 for a gig. However; I'm in an interesting place financially and can only take risk if I could resell the amp for roughly the same price purchased. I've been watchful and patient, came ...

Re: orange and thorpy fx?!?
Yo. I don't have a Rockerverb, but I have an OR100, AD140 Lead, and a Muffroom Cloud. The muffroom cloud was a little hot for the clean channel on the OR100. Sounded much better on both my DR103 and AD140. Sounded GREAT on a slightly dirty and loud AD140, though. It's a versatile pedal and a versati...

Re: which el34 to buy for orange amps
I've used Electro Harmonix, Mesa Boogie, Ruby, Groove Tubes, and JJ's. Stuck with the JJ's, but surprisingly enjoyed the Rubies that came stock in the OR100. They're all just kinda different in my ears, but I wouldn't describe any as sounding "worse" when set up correctly. For what it's worth, I fee...

Re: NCD - non Orange
Beautiful vox stack! I wanted to do the same thing with mine before I had to sell it, after playing a friend's with one of each speaker after he blew a blue (ah, words are great..). Perfect mix of that gritty chime and thumping bigness. Don't think we didn't see that DMM. You busted out Pride in the...

Re: Experience with AD50?
Nice, Custom Shop built amp, classy... Don't think it had a Baxandall EQ. (Those can be either passive or active BTW) Never played one so can't compare to the other ADs. Do like the idea of the foot-switchable 'sustain' which takes the preamp B+T tone controls out of circuit while leaving you the p...

Re: OR100 how much gain?
The OR15 does have a lot more gain than the OR100, in my experience. The OR100 does every shade of classic rock beautifully, edging up to those modded/boosted JCM800 tones of the mid/late 80's at about 3:00 on the gain. At that point, adding more gain or hitting the boost seems to just oversaturate ...

Experience with AD50?
Looking at picking up an AD50 that's 100 miles away. I love the AD voiced amps, but the mighty 140 LEAD can be a bit much. What do you guys think of em compared to the Ad's and the Orange range in general? Also, is the eq a bax stack or a passive treble/bass, like on the OR100 and rockerverb clean c...

Re: No more Thunderverbs and ORs???
The attenuator makes the amp in my opinion. I can use it for the perfect bedroom amp or I can set the attenuator at about 20% live and kick it off with the footswitch for a lead boost. I was thinking this. I don't think the RV III really loses too much functionality and features from the OR100. The...

Re: What flavor Orange fits me?
Hm. From my experience with it, I thought the Rocker 30 was the punchiest Orange since the 90's reissues, and possibly the punchiest of the lot. It sounds like the Rockerverb might be your flavor. Modern, high gain, loose when saturated... The other oranges that jump to mind are the Dual Dark and Th...

Re: V30's vs g12k100's
It's almost amazing how much of a difference in tone cabinet construction makes alone. Is the ppc412hp8 the same unloaded cab as the standard ppc412? I actually prefer a metal grilled cab loaded with v30's with the or100, as it keeps the high a little more crisp without getting into the cold and boo...

Re: New guy
Welcome! I, too, was a grateful jcm800 user, til I could afford a second premium amp and went with the OR100. I think both the discontinued models OR50 and OR100 will do you right, but even though they're in a similar old school voicing, they still have a bunch of different features. The big differe...
