Re: What Made You Choose ORANGE?

I was over my Fender Blues Jnr that I had for ten years. Loved it clean but when pushed it never quite sounded right to me. Soo... I researched a suitable 15 Watt amp as a replacement and settled on an OR15 which I still have and really enjoy it's tones. Up until then I knew nothing about Orange (ex...

Re: A thread for Big Muff lovers

I'm a Big Muff lover! I have: - All the Nano size EHX re-issues (Op Amp, Green Russian, Triangle, Ram's Head). - EHX Nano Big Muff (the smaller version of the NY Big Muff). - JHS Muffuletta. - BAT Sarcophagus (one side, the Pharaoh, based on a tweaked '47 Ram's Head circuit, the other side, the LSTR...

Re: Orange CR120H possible fault?

I have a CR60 and it does a similar thing when the gain channel is engaged but at low gain settings. I have some OD pedals that the clipping diodes can be switched out leaving only OP AMP distortion. At certain settings they make a similar sound. I believe it is OP AMP distortion which is covered wh...

Re: Cr60c vs micro dark

I have both and, IMO, the CR60 is capable of sludge/stoner but the caveat is I aint no expert. Depends on guitar, pups, whether down tuned or not, + a whole bunch of other factors, probably. It's way more versatile than the Micro Dark so from that POV it is also worth keeping. If it's new it does ne...

Re: NPD! Been a long wait :)

I have both and reckon the Pro is way better than the original. The tweakability is immense. Some of the wave tables in the original simply can't give usable sounds. Same wavetables used with the Pro are useable because of more options to tweak. I think the core OD/Distortion sounds of the Pro are b...

Re: Rattling/crackling Orange CR120 and Crush Pro 4x12 - UPDATE & Short Video

The first time I became aware of Op Amp distortion was when I started using an MI Effects Super Blues Pro. It has a selection that all clipping diodes can be switched out of the circuit leaving only the Op Amp to provide amplification with no clipping. Well, I found, depending on input and were the ...

Re: Which is your favourite Orange amp?

CR60. Awesome, warm cleans (for a solid state amp). Great tube-like distortion. Simple control set. Master volume for both channels. Light weight. Sounds warm at very low volumes and is a great bedroom amp regardless of wattage. No stuffing around with potential tube reliability issues. Versatility....

Re: Bax Bangeetar & single coils....

I haven't really got proper gear to record a video, and would have to search the internet to find examples, but I'm a mainly Strat player and have a Bax Bangeetar. I'm a fan of Strats played into Orange amps in general (have an OR15, CR60, Micro Terror and Dark Terror) because the low mid thing is a...

Re: Rattling/crackling Orange CR120 and Crush Pro 4x12 - UPDATE & Short Video

Sounds like Op Amp distortion to me. Happens when the signal is too high for an Op Amp to handle and it starts to clip the signal in an unpleasant way. Perfectly normal, Op Amps have their limits like any other amp but they don't clip an a pleasant way like a tube amp, for example. The Bax Bangeetar...

Re: Micro Terror VS Micro Dark

Good choice. I have a Micro Dark and Micro Terror only because they are relatively cheap. They are both awesome but the Dark has the edge because to my ear the cleans sound a bit better and the effects loop is a no brainer. The Terror is awesome for old school crunch and it sounds fantastic with dis...

Re: Oh, so thats how distortion pedals work!

An Orange amp set to breakup when the strings are hit hard combined with a DS-1 produces an awesome buzz free fat juicy distortion. It's possibly my favourite tone ever. For me it works with an OR15, CR60, Micro Dark and Micro Terror. I wasn't a fan of the DS-1 until I tried it with my Orange amps.

Re: Strange issue, needing opinions

Sounds like Op Amp distortion to me. It happens on some OD pedals I have with a selection where clipping can be taken out of the circuit so the sound is unadulterated from the Op Amp. Same also happens with my CR60 when using high output humbuckers into the clean channel; Input a high signal, the Op...

The Micro Terror is all analog. I think you mean solid state....

And yes, the CR60C is awesome.

Re: Cr60c power problem

Was the power lead pushed in and seated properly into the back of the amp? I had a similar problem with my CR60C once but over a shorter period. Pushed the plug in properly and problem gone.

Re: Cr120 ,cr60 home use

I have a CR60 and am extremely pleased with it for home/late night don't annoy the neighbours playing. In fact that's all I use it for. Awesome, simple amp and very versatile.

I also use a Micro Dark with a 1 X 12" V30 cab. Also great for home use but not as versatile as the CR60.
