Les Paul Lover wrote:And by the way, once you get a cab, you can't use a guitar cable to plug your DkT in it - you will need a speaker cable. They look the same, but they aren't. Your guitar cable will not cope with the current sent to your cabinet.
Yes, I know.

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

Well, he does say he's going to learn it. Until a "no sound after mod, help!" gets posted by Mr Kenji, I'll just give him the benefit of the doubt. Well thank you!... I'm actualy starting my mechanical engineering degree on the 5th of may and I'm gonna have quite a few electric and electroni...

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

Kenji, consider yourself lucky. For future reference, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a tube amp of ANY KIND plugged into either a speaker of the proper rating (ohms) or a load box/resistive load of the the proper rating BEFORE turning it on. You will break your amp and it will be very expensive to repai...

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

Does the amp work? You don't say whether you tried it with a speaker cabinet after doing this... If it is not working, don't try to fix it yourself. Bring it to an amp repair place. A red dot on the top of a preamp tube isn't an indicator of anything. It might have been there already. Does it light...

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

Okay, so today I went to the store and tested the amp. Luckily, the amp seemed to work fine and I could crank it pretty loud and play and had alot of OOMF. On the other hand I did identify some noise but I'm not sure if its natural. I think one of them was because I was not grounded but I recorded t...

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

Big update, one of my pre-amp valve has a little red dot on top, is this a sign that I fried it? If so, did frying it save other components?

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

Alright....... Don't do that again!!!!! I assume something in the DT was moved enough to produce some sound - that is what sound is after all, an air wave. Speakers are much better at that than transfomer or valves mind you. How long did you do that for? If it was only a matter of seconds you may b...

Re: Did something very stupid. now scared.

I hate to be a dongle-narf here, but I still cannot believe how some new owners of expensive equipment can be completely oblivious to this part in the instruction manual, that is written very visible in the beginning of the booklet next to a large "danger" sign: “Speaker Outputs” must be connected ...

Did something very stupid. now scared.

I have a orange dark terror. I tried to put the send from the FX loop to another amps return because i did not have a cab. I cranked the volume and could hear the guitar through the actual dark terror head (not speaker) What did I just fry out of stupidity? Is it 100% sure that I just fried somethin...

Dark Terror through PPC412hp-8, Am I doing something wrong?

I'm buying a Dark Terror, I know I love the sound and I also found a PPV412HP-8 for around 550$ (good deal). Will I regret buying a high power cabinet and running a 15/7 watt Amp through it?

Re: Dark Terror Tube Replacement

I use my 10 band in the loop which helps for note clarity, but there's no way it helps the fizzy or buzzy drive and gain. I'll try the Tung-Sol, thanks. Anybody else? Or is this amp garbage. Never used the dark terror but always disliked the hi-gain sounds in my tiny terror, like you I found it qui...
