Re: Overdrive or Distortion pedal to replace Gain preamp?
Volume pedal in FX loop would be pretty much like using the volume knob.

Re: OR15 and loudness. Speaker suggestions
The OR15 gets the distortion from the preamp tubes, rather than the power tubes. At best you get the PI to distort - I had an AU7 in the PI and I remember that it was getting distorted at high volume, but with anything above that (AY, 5771 or AX) there was no audible distortion related to the master...

Re: Best speaker/amp for bedroom jamming?
I had the OR15 and is far from being bedroom friendly. Way too loud to sound good, too fizzy on low volume. It's a great amp, but not for bedroom. Have a look at the Marshall 1 watt series. Expensive new, but maybe you find a good deal used. Even these can be too loud in a bedroom, but you get plent...

Re: NGD ! 2004 SG standard
While hard to say for the neck, it does seem to be similar to mine. I like the chunkier neck - it's "mean" for lack of a better description. It's similar to my '59 LP and I love it. I also think that the 498t/490r are quite nice pups and work well for dirty tones. Enjoy it!

Re: NGD ! 2004 SG standard
Congratulations! I love SGs with large guard. I own a 2008 Standard as well. What pickups do you have? Is the neck slim or chunky?

Re: Should I get the OR15H?
You can get plenty of distortion and fuzz from the OR15. But to get the sounds that you're looking for you need a suitable cab as well. A proper OD pedal will help for sure (especially one with good EQ), but without a cab doing the mid scoops you're looking for I don't think you'll get the results. ...

RIP Prince
I read last night that Prince died at 57. Although I was not a massive fan, there were some songs that I found to be up there with the biggest ones - Kiss, When doves cry, Purple rain, Sign o' the times and I could probably add 4-5 others. Rest in Peace!

Re: New Studio (build)
That's pretty cool. I am also going to build a sound proof room in my new apartment. May I ask you what materials did you use to isolate it? I noticed you did not use any sound absorbing material ON the walls, all was IN the walls. Any did you use anything specific on the floor and on the ceiling?

I was just listening to Eat the rich and a few others just a couple of days ago. Very sad news. The kind of news that always come as a shock. Rest in peace!

I read/watch as many as I can. My favourites are Mike Hermans (he did great reviews for Prymaxe) and Andy from Proguitarshop.

Re: Ppc212ob speaker ohms
I had a 212OB and the speakers were 8 ohm. Indeed, just slide the connectors on (mind the polarity) and you should be fine. If you feel the connectors slide too easily try to tighten them a little. The power of 2xG12H30 will be 60W, more than enough for the OR15. Not so sure that they will be enough...

Re: Multieffect advice ?
If you're looking for something small and chorus is all the mod you need, have a look at the Zoom 70CDR. It's in stompbox format and does chorus, delay and reverb. They got very good reviews.

That looks killer! White with ebony fingerboard is very classy. Post some pictures with the neck and the back of the headstock - curious how it turned out.

Re: OR 15 v.s. Rockerverb 50 mkll
It's a shame you were disappointed, after such a great plan :) Any chance the reason you don't like its sound on low volume is due to the scratchy treble? In my case it was. I just could not get along with the PPC cabinets. I had a 112 and a 212 OB in which I've done several speaker changes and stil...
