Re: ALL GOOD THINGS....

Thanks for all your efforts over the years Billy, as a long time member but only very occasional poster (so can't really grumble) I'll miss the forum but things do change. I'm a member of the FB group but have to say, the input on here over the years was largely informative and interesting, the comm...

Re: Celestion + Orange Official IR's

I've recently had to move to the dark side (line 6 hx stomp) as we're doing a stage show of Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds and aren't allowed any on stage volume, so beloved Dual Terror is sitting this one out. I've been pleasantly surprised by how good the hx is. I'm using a hiwatt model (there is a...

Re: Weird Feedback

Poor old middle pickup on the strat does get a bit overlooked. I've always veered towards positions 1 and 5 with the odd foray in to the in between sounds but spent a bit of time recently playing with the middle pup and it sounds really nice. I'll still probably ignore it next gig though . . .

Re: Sad parting - and wheeling and dealing....

Ah dammit, this thread just has me hankering after more gear! Don't think I could justify another CV Tele just to have lighter strings Andy, although the squier strat I just parted with I just kept for learning songs that were in Eb (we play them in standard but it's a hassle to re-tune when learnin...

Re: Sad parting - and wheeling and dealing....

Until recently I had a one in none out policy for gear, hate letting stuff go. But when I felt the need to upgrade my acoustic I did sell my old one and a squier strat I'd given a major upgrade to, to help fund it and make some space. Didn't make money but did ok, gave both guitars that went a good ...

Re: England visit.

Sounds like a very productive visit Andy. Sad about Gordon Smith, my brother has one, lovely guitar, nice player. I'd quite fancied one of their LPJ guitars, they do come up second hand now and again so maybe one day. Don't know about the English weather but NW Scotland is enjoying fine wet, windy a...

Re: Cut back pedal board - suggestions?

:D There's a big feature on Mini pedals in this month's Total Guitar, wee reviews of loads of different types, it may give you some ideas if you feel like picking up a copy. There's also a review of the RV mk III and it's 'chimey' clean channel. Oh, there's also a wee page of stickers included with ...

Re: Cut back pedal board - suggestions?

Enjoy trying them all out! Carbon copy does sound nice, was offered one from a band mate but really needed the tap tempo so went with the flashback (which is strum tempo not tap but works well) so don't discount the flashback or flashback mini. I saw the cry baby mini, looks cool - I'd try before bu...

Re: N(acoustic)GD

Thanks Andy, this new outfit is aimed at weddings as pub gigs up here have kinda dried up sadly. A bit of a cheesy but crowd pleasing mix of popular material with a traditional scottish music bit as is required up here! Not done a great deal of that kind of trad music before so it'll be a bit of a c...

N(acoustic)GD

Decided it was time for a new acoustic. Got a new band on the go, we'll be doing a bit of an acoustic set as well as the loud stuff and i wanted something semi-decent for gigging, my old washburn (prc made, bog standard fishman electrics) has served me well but I always struggled to get a decent plu...

Re: Flying Colors

If you like your rock music on the proggy side they're well worth a listen. Mike Portnoy on drums, Neil Morse on keys and vox and Dave Larue on bass, an impressive line up. Not for everyone of course but I really like them. Even though it is spelled wrong

Re: Flying Colors

I'm a big fan. I love Steve Morses playing and Casey Macpherson has a great voice. Incredible musicians, great songs, their last album 'second nature' has been a regular fixture on my stereo this year.

Re: Irig, Orange app

Congrats Kpunk (on the forthcoming new arrival, and for owning a rocker)! Not tried the irig but do have two small children so I can vouch for what Andy advises. I don't go mad with volume but they are used to hearing me play and seem to be pretty immune to it now! In fact when second youngest was a...

Re: Why do Teles sound so good through Orange?

I'm a recent Tele convert (mostly down to hearing how good they sound with orange amps) but yea, I'm with you. I love all my guitars through my dual terror but the Tele does sound fantastic!
