Re: How are you capturing your sound?
I've used an SM-57 for years but recently was given a new mic--an old-school ribbon mic--by my buddy David Robinson. He started a company with another engineer and they're producing these mics: http://www.potofone.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I had no idea how much the 57 colo...

Re: Anyone else having issues with PCB "hot glue" drying up?
I don't believe I've ever heard of glue, at least hot glue dried, conducting. I guess anything will conduct given the right circumstances (which doesn't really mean it conducts, more that it breaks down, not quite the same thing). A quick test: take a bit of the glue, lay it down on a piece of pape...

Re: Anyone else having issues with PCB "hot glue" drying up?
Hey Neil - great to see you're still around too! Thanks for the kind words. The glue I've got is called Thermogrip from Black & Decker. Do you know of anything about hot glue like this from a "conductivity" standpoint? Clearly something like this was used by Orange...but I doubt it was this exact st...

Re: Anyone else having issues with PCB "hot glue" drying up?
Yeah, I'm concerned. It may be as easy as using off the shelf glue with the glue gun I already have and not worrying about how sloppily it is applied because it may not matter. (I can say that whoever originally applied the glue clearly wasn't concerned with doing it neatly.) But if the proper type ...

Anyone else having issues with PCB "hot glue" drying up?
I had my original 2005 Rockerverb opened up the other day and I noted that the "hot glue" used to hold many of the components in place (to keep them from being vibrated loose, presumably) is drying/shrinking and no longer doing its job. Anyone else noticed this on their older Orange?

Re: Gigging again.....
Hey Brian - Thanks - yeah, Hot Pocket's been fun...barely playing at all with that band at this point, just an occasional party. Was playing in a funk band with a small horn section and that was really fun! But alas...hard to find work for 7-piece unit around here. Been playing in an eclectic kind o...

Re: wow cool amps
Here's a video that someone posted on TGP. That's not Mike playing but one of his customers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrBfjfDMQGA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Of course, the video can't capture the feel, but I can atest-- the feel is just perfect . It's chewy without being to...

Re: wow cool amps
Wow, haven't been by here in quite some time and I'm surprised to see a link to Mike's site. Mike Moody is a fantastic builder. The amps he builds sound like old amps. Very vintage sounding, not modern. I love the Brit, but the Z1 amp is flat out the best small club amp I've tried, if you want to ro...

Re: Rediscovering Your Gear
I haven't been playing my little old Gretsch Corvette much lately. I've always really dug it but often seems like I've had other guitars that were better in whatever musical situation I've been in lately. Then it occurred to me that it might sound cool in an open tuning...Love it! Makes me want to p...

Re: Back from the dark side.........
Hey Brian - are you playing mostly for your own entertainment at home? Or gigging much? Either way, one thing to consider is a separate wet rig. If you haven't experienced it, you may want to consider going this route. IMO, it works much, much better than an effects loop. Particularly if you're will...
