Re: Strymon, this is gonna cost me...

I think I might have fallen out of love with strymon. I only own the Timeline, which is a great pedal, but aim to sell it for the empress superdelay vintage mod (a pedal which I regret selling very much). Be interesting to see a review of this new puppy though. Let us know how you go with it. Also t...

Zoom G3X suprisingly good

This pedal only cost me around 280$ AU, and it is suprisingly good for a multi-unit. I bought it on the recommendations of a friend, and really didn't want to. I had memories of the bad old days of zoom muli-boards (really cheap and nasty sounding effects) but I'm glad I bought this thing. The amp m...

Re: Glow in the dark

I know the answer to this. I have purchased from this seller before--a star ceiling, actually. Whatever he uses is like the thing that sticks to homer's back in the opening credits of the simpsons. Very, very bright. Ask him to cook you up something special, he probably will. Not cheap, but very, ve...

Re: Which is thicker, Rocker 30 or TH30?

The Rocker 30 sounds better. That's my opinion of course. It is plenty thick through a big cab. Has more gain available than anyone should use regardless of genre. Runs EL34 and has a beefy transformer for a 30w amp. The clean channel is definitely not all that versatile, but I love it for what I d...

Re: Best orange head for metal?

Orange doesn't do metal? Yeah right. That's one of the craziest things anyone has ever said on this forum. That's like saying you cant play blues on a Strat. Almost any Orange amp can do metal especially Thunderverb 200, Rockerverb 100 and TH30. Well, of course they can do metal (especially at the ...

Re: Which is thicker, Rocker 30 or TH30?

Which has a thicker distortion, the Rocker 30 or TH30? I play a telecaster and range from clean indie, country, to modern rock. I know both of these amps can do that, but what I enjoy about Orange is the thick quality to the gain that matches so perfectly with telecasters. So which amp is beefier? ...

Re: Best orange head for metal?

Those HT20's sound very good but its no match for the TH30 when it comes to metal. Seriously, i play the TH30 at gigs full blast and it gets unbelievably tight at high volume and melts the barmaids knickers. How many blackstar owners have melted knickers??? thats my question to you...... TH3...

Re: Best orange head for metal?

HT20 series gets close, for me. Its actually a great amp for the price, you can dial in a lot of tones, a lot of them aren't good but the fender sound is nigh identical to a twin.

Re: Best orange head for metal?

I'm going to be unpopular for saying this, but: Save your money and get a blackstar. Or if you feel like paying through the nose, mesa. Orange is a little loose and crunchy for metal playing. Either of those two brands will get you what you're looking for. Honestly I would go blackstar, the newer mo...

Re: My New Frankencaster

I love my tele, a 52 Hot Rod re-issue. I've played around with pickups in it and settled on what I think are the best pickups (single coil) I've ever played. I've touted them before here. First put one in the bridge 6 months ago or so and had the P90 in the neck, just put neck version of the bridge...

Re: My New Frankencaster

Thanks Ant, really happy with they way it turned out. I do like the charlie pup but since your comment and those of others I'm having second thoughts. The problem is this the first tele I've owned, and have always played with Humbuckers. I'm after a set that will do glassy, quiet cleans and will voi...

Re: My New Frankencaster

Yeah, I like the lollar one quite a lot. I've played one in a thinline which is pretty close to my build. Why, what problems do you think I might run into tone wise?
