Re: Sabbath type clip - DOOM METAL - war pigs inspired, CaptorX, Thunderverb 50

One thing you can do is put a boost in the effects loop. That will get your cleans louder.

Re: Baritone guitars....

There's also the Fender Sub-Sonic, which is just a baritone Strat. Sounds pretty mighty through a Thunderverb.

Re: Fuzz roundup

The white dot NKTs, which are the ones that clean up the best apparently, are long gone. It's too bad, as I'd really like to run two of those in series, and also backups are good. Makes me wonder if I could find another old, less good pedal and send it to Mike to pull the transistors out to make ano...

Re: Fuzz roundup

I had no idea this forum was still going. Glad to see it! This was always my favorite music-oriented forum. I am a big germanium fuzz fiend. I especially love distortion into fuzz. My main fuzz is still an Analogman Sunlion (white dot NKT). It's got that beefy, creamy, Kyuss-like sound, and it's the...

Re: ALL GOOD THINGS....

• don’t try to run two heads into a stereo cab Wait, why not? I've been doing this for years. My two Thunderverbs into the big heavy duty Orange 4x12, and any number of Marshalls, Laneys and Engls into an Engl 4x12. Haven't had a problem. Am I asking for trouble? Sorry to see the forum go. It's bee...

Re: Ngd - Fender strat elite

Congratulations. Nice guitar. I have one just like it, couldn't resist the color, and it sounded great. Doesn't sound exactly like a normal strat with the noiseless pickups...kind of less clangy overall. I put flatwounds on mine to push it further that way, and now I use it for ambient type stuff.

Re: What is your first weapon of choice with Orange Amps?

Guild S-100, sounds good through any amp I've ever had. My default guitar whenever things don't sound right, I can always grab it and know the guitar isn't wrong for anything I'm trying to do. Thunderverbs seem to like Gibsons. They're sort of lazy, bloomier amps that really like a maple-capped V wi...

Re: Anyone used a Germanium treble booster before an Orange amp ?

Most of the dirt pedals I use are germanium. Has worked fine with my OR-120 and Thunderverbs. In general they stack well, and the only one that needs to be at the front is an Analogman Sunlion, because of the fuzz face half wanting to be before any buffered pedals. I do tend to like them before othe...

Re: Rverb 50 vs Tverb 50 - I know, a perennial question

I only played the RV once, and decided to get the TV instead without playing one. It's definitely a darker amp. Looser, from what I remember of the RV. I've had similar issues with it being muffled, as you put it, but I found a couple of things that help. A Distortion+ in front of it makes it meaner...

Re: Were there differences in OR-120s over the years?

I do use mine as a pedal platform. It's a 70s OR-120 with a 12AY7 as the first preamp tube. I like it because it's a huge-sounding amp with the FAC all the way counter-clockwise (where I always leave it). Lots of bite with the HF drive maxed, and I use the treble control to tame it. I also like that...

Re: NAD...... again.....

How many examples of the same amps have you had? I'm on my third silverface Super Reverb. Sold the first one when I was out of a job. Had a drip edge for a month or two, wound up returning it to the shop because no matter what we did with it, it just farted out with any humbucker guitar. Third one'...

Re: Thunderverb's "big transformers" also on the Dual Dark?

I could be wrong but I think the TV200 is specifically what was marketed for having the large transformer and capable of using bass through. The TV50, RV50, DD50 likely all share the same transformer. This is my understandings anyway. I think you're right about that. The TV200 had the same transfor...

Re: Thuderverb 50 to Dual Dark 100 upgrade!!!? Makes sense? Is it worth it?

Also, as for now, can you guys give me some tips on I can get my current amp, Thunderverb 50, into de "Dual Dark Territory". OD/Boost it! With what? I didn't watch that many reviews, and only played a DD once in a shop, but I didn't hear anything in it that would make me want to give up the reverb ...

Re: Cab advice for Thunderverb 50/200

I have a TV50 and a TV200 that I run through an HP8 cab. I run the TV200 at half power because the cab is 16 ohms each side in stereo, and the 200 doesn't have a 200W 16 ohm setting. Run this way, there's not that much difference in volume settings between the two amps. I think I have the 50 up just...
