Re: Terror Bass 1000
It may not apply, but I had a similar issue with my AD200B a few years ago. You may want to have your tech check if the power connection for the 12AX7 tubes is a Molex style connector as opposed to a soldered connection. If it is have him try clipping off the connector and soldering the connection f...

I didn't realize any of the OrMat's had EL84s.

Re: AD200MK1/MK3 sound and settings comparison
You can't assume that just because the tubes were matched as a set and biased properly in your MkIII that they would be running optimally biased in your MkI. So have your tech bias that set of tubes in your MkIII to get the optimal output. As well, you may want to check your preamp tube as well. The...

Re: Thunderverb 200 Output Power and Reverb Valve
Could be one of your phase inverter tubes. The AD200 has a phase inverter for each pair of output tubes; I'm not totally sure if the TV200 is setup the same. I've had a PI tube go out and distortion and reduced volume is what happens. When an output tube goes you will usually blow at least one fuse....

Re: Thunderverb 200 Output Power and Reverb Valve
I'm not sure why you would think that the tubes are dead if it is working in full power mode. It may be that one of the 6550's heaters does not light as brightly as the others? Depending on the year of your head's production you may have Winged C SED 6550C's which are the best 6550s produced since G...

Re: Thunderverb 200 Output Power and Reverb Valve
Yes, the output tubes work in pairs, either the 1 +3 pair or the 2 + 4 pair. If you use the head in 100 watt mode often then you will want to switch back and forth between the tubes so that they wear out evenly. If you have a tube blow in the middle of a performance that switch can come in handy the...

Re: ORANGE/MATAMP OR200 "Capacitors"
I would look on the Support section of the main Orange site and call the Orange UK headquarters. They will be able to point you in the direction of the nearest Orange authorized repair center. If you look in the dealer section of the site, there are Orange dealers all over Italy and I would think ma...

Re: AD200b MK3 - sound interruptions and "PLOCK" noises
I forgot to mention that I just had a set of JJ 6550s that were exhibiting the same "PLOCK" sound you describe at an outdoor gig and one of them failed a few weeks later. It was close enough to warranty that I was able to get it replaced. Another good 6550 type for the money is the Valve Art 6550A. ...

Re: AD200b MK3 - sound interruptions and "PLOCK" noises
6550 and KT88 tubes are very sensitive to excessive vibration and shock. I've started putting high density foam under my ad200 in an attempt to slow the failure of 6550s. My guess is the higher spls are shaking your tubes badly. Still probably worth a trip to the tech to be sure but new output tubes...
Re: KT120s?
I thought I would resurrect this old thread because I recently talked to someone at Orange USA HQ. While they confirmed that the Tung Sol KT120 would most likely function in the AD200, that they have not tested compatibility and do not support installation of the KT120 in the AD200. The only tubes s...

It's solid state so you don't have to have a speaker load connected. Just turn it on and plug into the DI.

Re: Matamp Reissues
My 2004 AD200B MkIII, which is one of the first MkIIIs produced, has a Trace Elliott stamp on the PCB so I'm not sure whether they took over the old Trace factory or what. I may have to pop it open and swap some preamp tubes in the next few days so I'll try to snap a pic to verify.

Re: Record player through Orange PA120
Ah, sorry about that. That's sweet that it worked out that way! It probably helps it was a PA head and not a bass head like the time that I tried to run my receiver's preamp out into my AD200.
