Daisy Chain - 3/4 stack

Post by Tominho » Thu Jan 12, 2012 4:22 pm

Long time lurker. First time poster. I've just scored a new orange 412 to go with my 212OB. I'll probably try to move by 212 soon; but in the meantime, I want to daisy chain them for a 3/4 stack.

I have a Tiny Terror and TH30. Both have 1 16 ohm output and 2 8 ohm outputs.

I assume to ensure everything is hooked up right I would go from either amp's 8 ohm output into CAB A's 16 ohm input. I'd then connect a second speaker cable from CAB A's second input into the 16 ohm input on CAB B. This would mean that both cabinets are running at 8ohms and since I've sent from the head's 8 ohm input I'd be ok....

Also, can I run speaker cables from the 2 8 ohm outputs on the head directly into both CAB A + B; thus eliminating the daisy chain?

I'm very new at this, so please forgive my ignorance. All I'm looking for is confirmation that this is correct. Thanks

that is exactly correct!

8 ohm out to cab 1 then to cab 2, daisy chained.

or

8 ohm out to cab 1 then second 8 ohm out to cab 2, eliminating the daisy chain.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wanted to be 100% sure before destroying an amplifier.

I should get my 412 tomorrow and I'm really excited. I think I've seen a 212 on top of a 412 in someone's signature on this forum. It will look killer in my house while I have it.

Another question. How long should it take to break in a 412. I've only played used 412s before. My 212 didn't seem to take that long.

it probably takes, what 20 hours of really working the speaker to fully break it in... so, counting potty breaks, about a day.
