Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
All arguments aside on flavor of tube vs transformers and circuit design, four 6v6s are what made the rv50 what it was imo.

Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
From what i've read it seems as if the new rockerverb 50 will not be able to use 6v6's... That's sad..
Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
Something I've heard is that 6V6's and EL34's aren't all that different tonally. Not sure the credit to that but it was something I've heard.

Yeah, I mean tubes do have character to them, but circuit and granny design, speakers, etc have a big part as well

Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
this goes both ways fellas. I would have never considered a RV50 before because of the 6v6's. I'm an EL34 or 6550 type all the way. Now, however, I would consider a RV50, since it will now bias without mods either the EL34 or 6550. I'm not trying to razz you all, just saying.
Well, CD9266, you were wanting the RV100 for the tube options. What say you now, is a new RV50 MKII in your future?

Can't believe I just sold my RV50.
The originals are going to be SO HARD to get hold of when I am older and have more cash

I doubt it. There were plenty of these made. I bought a marshall 30th anniversary model the other day for cheap, and there weren't many of these made. I still see them for sale all the time. With online auctions, there are always a bunch of sellers, and plenty of chances for you to get an origninal RV50 at a later date, IF, you even still want one. The MKIII will be out by then and it will run ANY tube in production both present and future! It will also have snap on/off features.....ie removable mid controls, etc.
Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
Haha yeah!
I wonder if any bright sparks can mod the new RV50 to run 6V6s.....

I'm sure the requirements to run 6v6's aren't much, but getting a schematic may be a problem.
Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
That is a good point ironlung. However, the 100 watts still boast a better clean channel with a little more head room.

that's right, sir. That is why I alway prefer a 100 watter to a 50. the headroom makes for a thicker tone, and I like to have enough clean volume if I need it. I do however have a rocker 30, and I really like it a lot. It's the 1st medium powered head I've had, but it has such and open organic tone, that it sounds much bigger than it is.
Re: Rockerverb 50 MkII
Any idea when RV MKII's will be available? One store told me that they are shipped in march but no store seem's to have them in stock yet.

I seem to remember April 2010 as the expected ship date. If they're not out next month, just wait longer!Vladi wrote:Any idea when RV MKII's will be available? One store told me that they are shipped in march but no store seem's to have them in stock yet.
